Aisonia (Greek : Αισωνία) is a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. [2] The municipal unit has an area of 75.504 km2. [3] Population 3,249 (2011). The seat of the municipality was in Dimini. The name of the municipality comes from Aeson, king of ancient Iolcus.

Dimini is a village near the city of Volos, in Thessaly, in Magnesia. It was the seat of the municipality of Aisonia. The name Aisonia dates back to ancient times. Currently, Dimini is the westernmost place in the Volos area. The Dimini area contains both a Mycenean settlement and a Neolithic settlement. The Neolithic settlement in Dimini was discovered near the end of the 19th century and was first excavated by the archaeologists Christos Tsountas and Valerios Stais.

The 2021 census recorded 54 residents in the community and 681 residents in the municipal unit. The community of Agios Kosmas covers an area of 9.496 km2 while the municipal unit covers an area of 115.087 km2. The village is named after the 18th-century saint Cosmas the Aetolian.
Sellana is a former municipality in the Karditsa regional unit, Thessaly, Greece, named after the ancient city of "Sellana" or "Silàna".
