1962: The War in the Hills

Akash Thosar (born 24 February 1993) is an Indian actor who appears in Marathi cinema and Bollywood. [2] [3] He is best known for his role as Parshya in the 2016 Marathi film Sairat for which he won a Filmfare Award Marathi Best Male Debut. [4] [5] He was ranked eighth in The Times of India 's Top 20 Most Desirable Men of Maharashtra in 2019. [6]

Career

Akash Thosar was born and raised in Karmala, Maharashtra. A former wrestler, [7] he made a debut in the film industry with the Sairat movie in 2016 which was directed by Nagraj Manjule and received immense success with this film. [8] Thosar later starred in the lead role in Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi movie FU: Friendship Unlimited in 2017. [9] [10]

In 2018, he starred in Netflix original Lust Stories , an anthology film, paired opposite Radhika Apte in the segment directed by Anurag Kashyap. [11] In 2022, he was seen in Jhund directed by Nagraj Manjule. [12] [13] [14] [15] He was also cast in 1962: The War in the Hills as an army officer. [16] [17] [18] In 2023 he was starred a role of chef in Ghar Banduk Biryani , alongside Sayaji Shinde and Nagraj Manjule. [19] He will next portray Shivaji in the historical film Bal Shivaji. [20]

Sairat is the soundtrack album composed and written by Ajay–Atul, to the 2016 Marathi film of the same name, directed by Nagraj Manjule that stars Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in lead roles. The film was produced by Nittin Keni, Nikhil Sane and Nagraj Manjule under the productions Zee Studios, Essel Vision Productions and Aatpat Productions. The four-song soundtrack was released under the Zee Music Company label on 1 April 2016, to critical acclaim and fetched numerous accolades. Sairat notably the first Indian film to record the musical score at the Sony Scoring Stage in California.
