The Samajwadi Party is a socialist political party in India. Headquartered in New Delhi, the party is based in Uttar Pradesh with a significant presence in other states too. The party has been able to form the government in the state of Uttar Pradesh four times - three times under Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, the fourth and most recent being Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s full majority government in the 2012-2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The coalition of party and its alliance partners SP+ has one of the largest vote bases in the state of Uttar Pradesh in terms of the collective voting pattern in the state-based electoral system, with more than 37% vote share in the 2022 elections.

Parasnath Yadav was an Indian politician and was elected 7 times MLA in Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh, 3 times Minister in Government of Uttar Pradesh and 2 times Member of Parliament from Jaunpur. He was suffering from bladder cancer for many years, eventually he died on the 12 June 2020 at his residence in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He had a problem with Prostate. He went to Mumbai for treatment. He was undergoing treatment at Kokilaben dhirubhai ambani Hospital. He had returned to Jaunpur from Mumbai and after few days he died due to the Corona.

Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Kunwar Raghuraj Pratap Singh, locally known as Raja Bhaiya, is an Indian history-sheeter politician accused of several crimes including the murder of an IPS officer. He is currently an MLA in the 18th Uttar Pradesh Assembly from his native local assembly constituency Kunda on Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik) ticket, winning the seat since 1993.

Prof. Dr.Shivakant Ojha is an Indian politician affiliated with Bhartiya Janata Party. He is member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing Raniganj constituency in Pratapgarh district, of Uttar Pradesh. On 18 January 2014, Prof. Ojha was assigned as Minister for Technical Education in Akhilesh Yadav's cabinet. He was removed as the Minister for Technical Education on 29 October by the Chief Minister of the state, Akhilesh Yadav. Later he was reinducted in the cabinet again as a Health Minister of the state on 26 September 2016. He was minister in Kalyan singh cabinet. He was minister for 9 years. He won election 4 times and 3 times in a row.
