Al-Quds Open University (Arabic : جامعة القدس المفتوحة) is an independent, distance education public university in Palestine. It was created by a decree issued by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1991. [1]

QOU is the first Open Learning institute in the Palestinian territories. It has 60,000 students studying in 19 branches and centers distributed all over the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.[ citation needed ]

In 2023, the university's facilities were destroyed by Israeli bombardment during the 2023 Israel–Hamas War. [2] [3]

Education in the State of Palestine refers to the educational system in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which is administered by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Enrollment rates amongst Palestinians are relatively high by regional and global standards. According to a youth survey in 2003, 60% between the ages 10–24 indicated that education was their first priority. Youth literacy rate was 98.2%, while the national literacy rate was 91.1% in 2006. The literacy rate ages 15-24 was 99.4% in 2016. Enrollment ratios for higher education were 45% in 2022. In 2016 Hanan Al Hroub was awarded the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize for her work in teaching children how to cope with violence.

Al-Aqsa University is a public university with campuses in Gaza City and Khan Younis, Palestine. Established in 1955 as a teachers' institute before later expanding its curriculum, it is the first and oldest public higher education institution in the Gaza Strip. It caters for some 26,000 students and has some 1,400 employees, 300 of whom are lecturers and professors.

The Islamic University of Gaza, also known as IUG and IU Gaza, is an independent Palestinian university established in 1978 in Gaza City. It was the first higher education institution to be established in the Gaza Strip. The university has 11 faculties capable of awarding BA, BSc, MA, MSc, MD, PhD, diplomas and higher diplomas, in addition to 20 research centers and institutes and the affiliated Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital.

Riyad Hassan El Khoudary is a Palestinian professor. He has been the president of Gaza University since August 1, 2020. He is the vice-chairman of the board of trustees of Al-Quds Open University in Palestine, and a member of the Palestinian Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence since March 2018.

The Hashemite University, often abbreviated HU, is a public university in Jordan. It was established in 1995. The university is located in the vicinity of the city of Zarqa. As regards to the study systems, it applies the credit hour system. Each college has its own number of credit hours. It is the first university in Jordan to apply the Two-Summer-Semester system. The Hashemite University offers a variety of different master programs. It also offers an international admission program which allows non-Jordanian students to enroll at the university.

Mohammed Shihad Dajani Daoudi is a Palestinian professor and peace activist. Dajani gained international recognition for his work in helping to raise awareness concerning the Holocaust through a variety of media. Dajani has also been active in forming relationships with Jewish and Christian religious leaders and peace activists to spread the Wasatia message of understanding, tolerance, coexistence and brotherhood. Dajani is tackling the ideological roots of extremism. In 2014, he became the center of a controversy when he led a group of students from Al-Quds University to Auschwitz.

Al-Makassed Islamic Charitable Society Hospital is a Muslim Community founded teaching hospital and charitable hospital of the Palestinian Arab’s charitable founded by Makassed Islamic Charitable Society, There is one of district general hospital from part of six hospitals in the East Jerusalem Hospitals Network. It has 250 beds and is situated on Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem. It serves as a tertiary referral hospital mainly for the Arab population of the Palestinian territories, namely the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, but also provides health care for the Israeli population when they meet obstacles using other facilities. It is a teaching hospital of Al-Quds University Faculty of Medicine.

Al-Quds Committee, also known by its affiliated arm name adopted in 1995, Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency, is an intergovernmental organization and one of the four standing committees of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation established in July 1975. It is focused on cultural, political, social, religious and human rights issues in Jerusalem caused by the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Its principles are predominantly focused on the protection of Al-Aqsa, and cultural heritage of the city in addition to serving as an advocacy agency specialized in humanitarian and social works, concerning health, education housing children's as well as women's rights.

Al Quds University Teaching Hospital is a Palestinian healthcare foundation based in Jerusalem Governorate, Palestine. It is affiliated with the Al-Quds University and operates four facilities in Palestine. The hospital serves as a teaching hospital for medical students and provides healthcare services to the local community.
