Alan Dwayne Porter Jr. (born December 18, 1977) is an American Major League Baseball umpire. He umpired his first Major League game on April 5, 2010. He wears uniform number 64.
Porter's Major League umpiring debut was in early 2010 and he umpired a total of 35 major league games that season. He returned in 2011 to officiate in 121 big league games. [1] Porter was hired to the full-time MLB staff in January 2013. [2] Porter was the home plate umpire for Jordan Zimmermann's (Washington Nationals) no-hitter against the Miami Marlins on the last day of the 2014 regular season. [3] Porter's first postseason assignment was the 2014 NLDS between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Porter later served as the right field umpire in the 2015 MLB All-Star Game in Cincinnati.
Porter was chosen as one of the umpires for the 2019 World Series, his first, between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals. Porter was the home plate umpire for Game 1, right field umpire for Game 2, and served as the replay official for the remainder of the series. Porter was selected to work his second World Series in 2022, and was promoted to crew chief in 2023. [4]
On August 15, 2010, Porter was forced to leave a Houston Astros – Pittsburgh Pirates game in which he was serving as the home plate umpire after he was struck on the head by Carlos Lee's bat while Lee was following through with his swing. [5]
Porter is married to his wife Allison, and they have two sons Alan III (Trey) and Alexander. [6]
Porter graduated high school in 1995 from Hatboro-Horsham High School in Horsham, PA where he starred in football and baseball.
Jose Alexander Cora is a Puerto Rican baseball manager and former infielder who is the manager of the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for 14 seasons with the Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and Washington Nationals. After retiring as a player, Cora served as the bench coach for the Houston Astros when they won their first World Series title in 2017. Cora was named Boston's manager the following season, winning a franchise-best 108 games and leading the team to victory in the 2018 World Series. He is the fifth MLB manager to win the World Series in his first season and the first Puerto Rican manager of a World Series-winning team.
Jeffrey Brian Nelson is an American former professional baseball umpire in Major League Baseball (MLB), who was named to the National League (NL) staff prior to the 1999 season, and worked throughout both major leagues from 2000 until his retirement after the 2023 regular season.
John Patrick McSherry was an American umpire in Major League Baseball who worked in the National League from 1971 until his death. McSherry wore uniform number 9 when he entered the National League, then wore number 10 from 1979 through the rest of his career. A respected arbiter, he was one of several umpires who were noticeably obese. McSherry was officially listed at 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) and 328 pounds (149 kg). On April 1, 1996, the opening day of the 1996 Major League Baseball season, McSherry suffered a fatal heart attack while calling a game in Cincinnati.
Edward George Barrett is an American retired Major League Baseball umpire. He joined the American League's staff in 1994, and worked throughout both major leagues from 2000 until his retirement in 2022. Promoted to crew chief in 2013, Barrett worked in 33 play-off series, including five World Series. He retired following the 2022 season.

Marquis Donnell "Bo" Porter is an American former professional baseball player, manager, and coach. He is the current first base coach for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was a special assistant to the Atlanta Braves general manager and former third base/outfield and base running coach for the Braves. Porter previously served as manager of the Houston Astros for two seasons until his termination on September 1, 2014. During spring training in 2018 he ran the Major League Baseball Players Association free agent camp. In 2019, he became a television broadcaster for the Washington Nationals on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
Fieldin Henry Culbreth III is an American former umpire in Major League Baseball (MLB). He worked in the American League from 1993 to 1999 and in both major leagues from 2000 until his retirement in 2021. Culbreth was promoted to crew chief prior to the 2013 season. Culbreth wore number 42 while he was an American League umpire, then changed to 25 in 2000 after the MLB umpires were unified into one crew.

He did not umpire in 2000 and 2001, and since 2002 has umpired across both major leagues. Vanover has umpired two All Star Games, and in the 2016 World Series. He was promoted to crew chief in 2015. Vanover wore sleeve number 28 during his National League tenure, then changed to 27 after his return to the MLB umpiring staff in 2002.

Todd Frederick Tichenor is an American professional baseball umpire. He became a Major League Baseball reserve umpire in 2007 and was promoted to the full-time MLB staff in 2012. He wore number 97 until the 2014 season, when he switched to number 13.
