History

Albarka Air was founded in 1999 and commenced operations in March of 2000. In 2002 it's BAC 1-11 fleet was retired from service [2] . In 2007 the Nigerian government set a deadline of April 30, 2007 for all airlines operating in the country to re-capitalise or be grounded, in an effort to "ensuring better services and safety" for Nigerian airlines [3] . The airline did not pass this and ceased operations on April 30 2007.
