Alejandro Enrique Cavero Alva (born 6 June 1992) is a Peruvian politician and former journalist currently serving as a member of the Congress of the Republic of Peru representing the Lima Metropolitan Area since 2021.
Cavero was born in Lima,Peru,on 6 June 1992,and lived four years in Venezuela before gaining admission to the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. [1] He attained his law degree in 2017,but rather practiced journalism while working at El Comercio. [2]
At the 2021 general election,Cavero was elected to Congress under Go on Country –Social Integration Party,with 30,243 votes,for the 2021–2026 term. [3]
In November 2021,he participated in a gathering with LGBT activists at the British Residence. For this,he was criticized for supporting at the same time the Spanish political party Vox,a party noted for a strong anti-LGBT agenda. This led to his coming out through his Twitter account,where he expressed being homosexual and "proudly right-wing". [4]
In August 2022,he presented a bill for civil unions between heterosexual and homosexual couples,but with limitations,such as same-sex adoption,which was criticized by some LGBT groups,who claimed that it was giving in to conservative pressure. [5] [6] Cavero defended the project,considering that it could be a good step to improve LGBT rights. [7]

The Christian People's Party is a centre-right and conservative political party based on the principles of Christian democracy. It was founded in 1966 by Christian Democratic Party dissidents, led by Luis Bedoya Reyes, at the time mayor of Lima.
Advance Country – Social Integration Party is a Peruvian political party. Founded in the northern city of Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad in 2000, the party nominated Ulises Humala, brother of future President Ollanta Humala, for the presidency in the 2006 general election, in the election, the party won 1.1% of the popular vote but no seats in the Congress of the Republic. The presidential ticket itself attained 0.2%, placing fourteenth nationally and subsequently lost its registration.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Chile since 10 March 2022. In June 2021, President Sebastián Piñera announced that his government would sponsor a bill to legalize same-sex marriage. The Senate of Chile passed the legislation on 21 July 2021, and the Chamber of Deputies gave its approval on 23 November 2021. Disagreements on some aspects of the bill led to the formation of a mixed commission to discuss it. Both chambers of the National Congress approved an identical version of the bill on 7 December 2021. President Piñera signed the legislation into law on 9 December, and it was published in the Diario Oficial de la República de Chile on 10 December. The law took effect 90 days later, with the first same-sex marriages taking place on 10 March 2022. Chile was the sixth country in South America and the 29th in the world to allow same-sex couples to marry.
Víctor Isla Rojas is a Peruvian lawyer, businessman and politician. He was a former Congressman representing the Loreto region for two terms, from 2006 to 2016 and was President of the Congress between 2012 and 2013. Before he became a congressman, he was the Vice Governor of Loreto serving between 2003 and 2006 and served as Provincial Councillor of Alto Amazonas.

One of the most prominent and influential members of the Peruvian Aprista Party, he was Congressman from 2001 to 2019, representing Lima. José Alejandro Vega Antonio is a Peruvian politician and a Congressman representing Lima since 2020. He was previously congressman for the 2006-2011 term representing Lima. He was First Vice President of the Congress between 2006 and 2007 under the leadership of Mercedes Cabanillas. In the 2020 snap parliamentary election, after a nine-year absence, he was once again elected as Congressman representing the same constituency to complete the 2016-2021 term that was interrupted following to the dissolution of the Congress. Vega belongs to the Union for Peru party in which, he is the party's Secretary General. He is running for President in the 2021 elections.
Yonhy Lescano Ancieta is a Peruvian lawyer and politician belonging to the Popular Action party. He was a Congressman between 2001 until the dissolution of the Congress by Martín Vizcarra in 2019. From 2009 to 2011, he served as the Popular Action party's national secretary-general. He was the Popular Action's presidential nominee in the 2021 general election and placed fifth in an atomized race of 18 nominees.
