Alex McArthur (born March 6, 1957) is an American actor.

Early life and education

He was born in Telford, Pennsylvania, the son of Bruce, a contractor, and Dolores McArthur. [1] He studied acting at De Anza College and San Jose State University, [2] [3] and worked as a bartender at the legendary nightclub Studio 54 in New York. [4] [5]

Career

McArthur became known for portraying Charlie Reece in the film Rampage , and Duell McCall in the western TV film series Desperado , whose original screenplay was written by Elmore Leonard. [6] [7] He was nominated for Gemini Awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, for the television film Woman on the Run: The Lawrencia Bembenek Story . [8]

He also appeared in the music video for Madonna's song "Papa Don't Preach", which was included in her The Immaculate Collection video compilation. In the video he appears as Madonna's boyfriend and the father of her unborn child. [2] [3]

Personal life

On December 21, 2019, McArthur's son Jacob was shot and killed in Oroville, California. A suspect was arrested on July 12, 2021. [9]

"Papa Don't Preach" is a song by American singer Madonna from her third studio album, True Blue (1986). Written by Brian Elliot, it was produced by the singer and her collaborator Stephen Bray. In the United States, the song was released as the album's second single on June 11, 1986, whereas in most European countries, the release was five days later. A dance-pop track with that mixes elements of baroque, post-disco and classical music, its lyrics deal with teenage pregnancy. Elliot wrote it inspired by teen gossip he'd hear outside his recording studio. Originally intended for a singer named Christina Dent, Warner Bros. Records A&R executive Michael Ostin convinced Elliot he let Madonna record it instead. The singer then added and altered a few of the lyrics, and got a songwriting credit.

True Blue is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released on June 30, 1986, by Sire Records. In early 1985, Madonna became romantically involved with actor Sean Penn, and married him six months later on her 27th birthday. Additionally, she met producer Patrick Leonard while on the Virgin Tour, and formed a professional relationship with him. The first songs they created together were "Love Makes the World Go Round", and the ballad "Live to Tell", which was featured on At Close Range, a film in which Penn starred. The MDNA Tour was the ninth concert tour by American singer Madonna, launched in-support of her twelfth studio album, MDNA (2012). The Madame X Tour was the eleventh concert tour by American singer Madonna, in support of her fourteenth studio album, Madame X (2019). It began on September 17, 2019, at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York City, United States, and ended on March 8, 2020, at the Grand Rex in Paris, France. An all-theater tour, it was the singer's first time playing small venues since the Virgin Tour (1985); she had previously shown interest in doing a smaller-scale show during a 2017 interview. The tour consisted exclusively of dates in the United States, Portugal, England, and France; mobile phones and smart watches were banned from the concerts, which was met with mixed reactions from fans.
