A yacht is a sailing or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. There is no standard definition, though the term generally applies to vessels with a cabin intended for overnight use. To be termed a yacht, as opposed to a boat, such a pleasure vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and may have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities.
A superyacht or megayacht is a large and luxurious pleasure vessel. There are no official or agreed upon definitions for such yachts, but these terms are regularly used to describe professionally crewed motor or sailing yachts, ranging from 40 metres (130 ft) to more than 180 metres (590 ft) in length, and sometimes include yachts as small as 24 metres (79 ft).
USS California (SP-249) was a yacht acquired by the U.S. Navy during World War I and outfitted as an armed section patrol vessel patroling New York waterways. Later, renamed the original name of Hauoli, it was assigned to Thomas A. Edison conducting underwater listening experiments related to antisubmarine warfare.
Alysia is a luxury charter Motor yacht owned by Greek businessman Andreas Liveras. She was constructed in steel during 2006 by the Neorion ship-yard for a cost of about 116 million EUR. This made her Forbes magazine's most expensive yacht in the world for 2006.
O`Mega is a luxury charter yacht. She was built in 1985 as a small passenger vessel from the shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In 2002 she was sold and converted into a superyacht. One year later the steel motor yacht was completed and handed over to the owner. She was number 29 in the Power & Motor Yacht magazine's list of the World's 100 Largest Yachts 2008. In 2011 she underwent a refit and her hull colour was changed from black to white.
Motor Yacht A is a superyacht designed by Philippe Starck and engineered by naval architect Martin Francis. It was built by the Blohm + Voss shipyard at the HDW deepwater facility in Kiel. It was ordered in November 2004, and delivered in 2008 at a rumoured cost of US$300 million. With a length of 119 metres (390 ft) and measuring almost 6,000 tonnes, it is one of the largest motor yachts in the world. It is owned by Russian entrepreneur and industrialist Andrey Melnichenko.
M/Y A+, previously named Topaz, is a luxury motor yacht constructed by Lürssen in Bremen, Germany.
Illusion is a superyacht built in 2013 at the Dutch Heesen Yachts shipyard. The interior design of Illusion was done by Bannenberg & Rowell Design and the exterior work was done by Omega Architects. It was launched as the Galactica Star with an original sale price of €65 million.
Andromeda is a 107-meter luxury expedition yacht constructed for the New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart. Launched in 2015 and completed in 2016, the vessel was initially named Ulyssess by Hart. The vessel was reportedly sold in 2017 to Yuri Milner and renamed Andromeda.
Oceanco's 88.5 m (290 ft) Cloud 9 was delivered in 2015 as Infinity. Her exterior design is the work of Espen Øino and her interior is by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and David Kleinberg Design Associates. The Master Suite includes a private exterior deck and whirlpool. Guest accommodations consist of two VIP suites and four spacious guest staterooms. The yacht is fitted with two 4.828 hp (3.600 kW) MTU engines and is capable of reaching speeds of 18.5 knots (34 km/h).
Black Pearl is a sailing yacht launched in 2016, which is 106.7 meters (350.1 ft) in length. It has three DynaRig masts supporting a sail area of 2,900 square meters (31,215 sq ft). The yacht was known during its build process originally as Oceanco Y712 and thereafter as "Project Solar". The hull is steel, the superstructure aluminum, and the masts carbon fiber. The yacht is owned by the family of Russian billionaire Oleg Burlakov, who died on 21 June 2021.
The 80 m (260 ft) superyacht Constellation was launched at the Oceanco yard in Alblasserdam. Monaco based The A Group designed the exterior of Constellation, with interior design by Fantini Design & The A Group. She has two sister ships, the 2001 built 80 m (260 ft) Stargate and the 2000 built 95 m (312 ft) Indian Empress.
Musashi, is a motor yacht built in 2011 by Feadship and is owned by American billionaire Larry Ellison. With an overall length of 87.78 m (288.0 ft) and a beam of 13.90 m (45.6 ft) she is the 79th largest yacht in the world, tied with her sister ship Fountainhead. Musashi is named after the Japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
Romea is a motor yacht built in 2015 by Abeking & Rasmussen. Owned by Russian billionaire Alexander Nesis, she has an overall length of 81.80 m (268.4 ft) and a beam of 14.00 m (45.93 ft).
The 135.61 m (444.9 ft) superyacht Crescent was launched by Lürssen at their yard near Rendsburg. The yacht's exterior design is from Espen Øino (Oeino) and Zuretti Design was responsible for the interior design. She is owned by Caymanese company Black Dragon Minerals LLS. In March 2022, she was detained by Spain as property of Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, who is sanctioned in connection with 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Oceanco's 117 m (384 ft) Infinity was delivered in 2022 as a replacement for its previous yacht, now named Cloud 9. Her exterior design is the work of Espen Øino and her interior is by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and David Kleinberg Design Associates. She is capable of reaching speeds up to 18.5 knots (34 km/h).
The 115.10 m (377.6 ft) superyacht Ahpo was launched by Lürssen at their yard near Rendsburg and delivered later that same year to Canadian-Jamaican billionaire Michael Lee-Chin. Ahpo was built as a replacement for the owners previous yacht, Quattroelle, which he sold in 2014.
The 96.55 m (316.8 ft) superyacht Faith was launched by Feadship at their yard in Makkum and delivered later that same year as a replacement for the owners previous yacht, now named Flag, which he sold in 2017 to Tommy Hilfiger.
The 68.20 m (223.8 ft) superyacht Ragnar was launched by ICON Yachts at their yard in Harlingen and delivered later that same year to Russian millionaire Vladimir Strzhalkovsky.
The 66 m (217 ft) superyacht Luna B was launched by Oceanco at their yard in Alblasserdam. The yacht's exterior design was done by the yard itself and Alberto Pinto was responsible for the interior design. She is owned by American/Canadian billionaire Robert Friedland.
