A yacht is a sail- or motor-propelled watercraft used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. There is no standard definition, though the term generally applies to vessels with a cabin intended for overnight use. To be termed a yacht, as opposed to a boat, such a pleasure vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and may have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities.
A superyacht or megayacht is a large and luxurious pleasure vessel. There are no official or agreed upon definitions for such yachts, but these terms are regularly used to describe professionally crewed motor or sailing yachts, ranging from 40 metres (130 ft) to more than 180 metres (590 ft) in length, and sometimes include yachts as small as 24 metres (79 ft).
USS California (SP-249) was a yacht acquired by the United States Navy during World War I and outfitted as an armed section patrol vessel patrolling New York waterways. Later, renamed the original name of Hauoli, it was assigned to Thomas A. Edison conducting underwater listening experiments related to antisubmarine warfare.
Alysia is a luxury charter Motor yacht owned by Greek businessman Andreas Liveras. She was constructed in steel during 2006 by the Neorion ship-yard for a cost of about 116 million EUR. This made her Forbes magazine's most expensive yacht in the world for 2006.
Emir is a yacht built in 1985 as a passenger vessel by the shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In 2002 she was sold and converted into a superyacht and renamed O'Mega. One year later the steel motor yacht was completed and handed over to the owner. She was number 29 in the Power & Motor Yacht magazine's list of the World's 100 Largest Yachts 2008. In 2011 she underwent a refit and her hull colour was changed from black to white.
Motor Yacht A is a superyacht designed by Philippe Starck and engineered by naval architect Martin Francis. It was built by the Blohm + Voss shipyard at the HDW deepwater facility in Kiel. It was ordered in November 2004, and delivered in 2008 at a rumoured cost of US$300 million. With a length of 119 metres (390 ft) and measuring almost 6,000 tonnes, it is one of the largest motor yachts in the world. Before 2022 she was connected with the Russian entrepreneur and industrialist Andrey Melnichenko, but, according to his representatives, he has no relation to it anymore, neither in terms of ownership, nor in any other way. The yacht has been laid up in the United Arab Emirates since 2022
M/Y A+, previously named Topaz, is a luxury motor yacht constructed by Lürssen in Bremen, Germany.
Azzam is a private superyacht built by German shipyard Lürssen Yachts. Azzam was launched on 5 April 2013. At 180 metres (590 ft) in length, she is the longest private motor yacht in the world. She has a beam of 20.8 metres (68 ft) and an unusually shallow draft of 4.3 m. The yacht was delivered on 9 September 2013.
Whisper, formerly known as Kismet, is a 95.2-metre -long superyacht which was built by Lürssen in 2014. It was managed by the Moran Yacht & Ship chartering business, and was owned by Pakistani-American billionaire Shahid Khan. In September 2023, the vessel was sold to Eric Schmidt and renamed Whisper.
Illusion is a superyacht built in 2013 at the Dutch Heesen Yachts shipyard. The interior design of Illusion was done by Bannenberg & Rowell Design and the exterior work was done by Omega Architects. It was launched as the Galactica Star with an original sale price of €65 million.
Andromeda is a 107.39-meter luxury expedition yacht constructed for the New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart. Launched in 2015 and completed in 2016, the vessel was initially named Ulyssess by Hart. The vessel was reportedly sold in 2017 to Yuri Milner and renamed Andromeda.
The 80 m (260 ft) superyacht Constellation was launched at the Oceanco yard in Alblasserdam. Monaco based The A Group designed the exterior of Constellation, with interior design by Fantini Design & The A Group. She has two sister ships, the 2001 built 80 m (260 ft) Stargate and the 2000 built 95 m (312 ft) Indian Empress.
Musashi is a motor yacht built in 2011 by Feadship and is owned by American billionaire Larry Ellison. With an overall length of 87.78 m (288.0 ft) and a beam of 13.90 m (45.6 ft) she is the 79th largest yacht in the world, tied with her sister ship Fountainhead. Musashi is named after the Japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
Romea is a motor yacht built in 2015 by Abeking & Rasmussen. Owned by Russian billionaire Alexander Nesis, she has an overall length of 81.80 m (268.4 ft) and a beam of 14.00 m (45.93 ft).
Alaiya is an luxury yacht launched by Lürssen at their yard near Rendsburg in 2018 owned by Indian steel magnate billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. Both the yacht's exterior and interior design are the work of Winch Design.
The 135.61 m (444.9 ft) superyacht Crescent was launched by Lürssen at their yard near Rendsburg. The yacht's exterior design is from Espen Øino (Oeino) and Zuretti Design was responsible for the interior design. She is owned by Caymanese company Black Dragon Minerals LLS. In March 2022, she was detained by Spain as property of Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, who is sanctioned in connection with 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The 80 m (260 ft) superyacht Excellence was launched by Abeking & Rasmussen at their yard near Lemwerder. Both the yacht's exterior and interior design are the work of Winch Design.
Lady Jorgia is a 115.10 m (377.6 ft) superyacht built by Lürssen. Developed using the code name Project Enzo, it was launched at Lürssen's yard near Rendsburg in 2021 and delivered later that same year to Canadian-Jamaican billionaire Michael Lee-Chin under the name Ahpo. Ahpo was built as a replacement for Lee-Chin's previous yacht, Quattroelle, which he sold in 2014. Ahpo was listed for sale in February 2023. Three months later, in May 2023, it was sold for a rumoured €330 million, in what is "believed to be the biggest brokerage deal in history". Upon its sale, it was renamed Lady Jorgia. Her new owner is Canadian billionaire and former ice hockey goaltender Patrick Dovigi. Lady Jorgia made its first appearance after its sale at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix.
The 68.20 m (223.8 ft) superyacht Ragnar was launched by ICON Yachts at their yard in Harlingen and delivered later that same year to Russian millionaire Vladimir Strzhalkovsky.
The 66 m (217 ft) superyacht Luna B was launched by Oceanco at their yard in Alblasserdam. The yacht's exterior design was done by the yard itself and Alberto Pinto was responsible for the interior design. She is owned by American/Canadian billionaire Robert Friedland.
