Alexander Babu Arulanthu is an Indian stand-up comedian, singer, yoga instructor, musician and actor. [1] [2]

In 2014, Alexander Babu left his corporate job as a software engineer to focus on stand-up comedy and theater shows. [3] He has toured the United States, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Kuwait and Australia for his performances. [4] [5] In 2019 he produced his 120-minute English-Tamil stand-up-musical special, Alex in Wonderland for Amazon Prime. [5]

Personal life

Alexander Babu was born and brought up in a small village called Andavoorani in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu in a Catholic family. [6] [7] He studied engineering in College of engineering Guindy in Chennai, studied his master's degree in the United States and worked as a software engineer at Amazon in Seattle. [8] [9] He began his training as a Carnatic vocalist when he was in the United States. [6]

Career

Alexander Babu started his stand-up comedy career after leaving his corporate job as a software-engineer. [3] [10] During his early life in stand-up comedy he worked in the South India-focused comedy movement Evam Stand-Up Tamasha [10] During July 2017, he began his musical stand-up act, Alex in Wonderland which combines music, storytelling and stand-up [11] and earned him numerous accolades. [12] He performed 115 shows of Alex in Wonderland worldwide after ending it in 2019 and it is now an Amazon Prime special [13] [11] He is popular in YouTube for his stand-up comedy performances; his videos have gained him millions of views and has more than 1 million subscribers as of April 2020.[ citation needed ]

He was introduced to Tamil film industry by K. Balachander through the film Pattina Pravesam (1976).

Viswasam (transl. Loyalty) is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Siva and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. The film stars Ajith Kumar, Nayanthara and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles, alongside Vivek, Thambi Ramaiah, Robo Shankar, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Anikha Surendran, Kalairani, Sujatha Sivakumar, Rajitha and R. <i>The Family Man</i> (Indian TV series) Indian spy thriller television series

The Family Man is an Indian Hindi-language spy action thriller streaming television series created by Raj & DK for Amazon Prime Video and features Manoj Bajpayee as Srikant Tiwari, a middle-class man secretly working as an intelligence officer for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), a fictitious branch of the National Investigation Agency. It also stars Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi, Dalip Tahil, Sunny Hinduja and Shreya Dhanwanthary. <i>Maara</i> 2021 film by Dhilip Kumar

Maara is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language adventure romantic drama film directed by Dhilip Kumar in his directorial debut, and produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa of Pramod Films. An adaptation of the 2015 Malayalam blockbuster movie Charlie by Martin Prakkat, the film stars R. Madhavan, Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami, and Sshivada. Pramod Films acquired the remake rights in early 2016, after which it underwent a series of casting and screenplay changes for two years. In June 2018, Dhilip Kumar was announced to direct the film, after Martin Prakkat, and A. L. Vijay, opted out of the project. Filming commenced in June 2018, with sporadic schedules at Kochi and Pondicherry, before the shooting wrapped up in late 2020. The film's music is composed by Ghibran, with cinematography and editing handled by Dinesh B. Krishnan, Karthik Muthukumar, and Bhuvan Srinivasan, respectively.
