Alexis Sharangabo (born 9 November 1978) is a retired Rwandan middle-distance runner who specialised in the 1500 metres. [1] He represented his country at two Summer Olympics, in 1996 and 2000, failing to reach semifinals.
Collegiately, Sharangabo competed for Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina winning the 2000 NAIA Men's Cross Country Championship individual title and graduating in 2003. He was inducted into the Brevard College Hall of Fame in 2014. [2] [3]

Hicham El Guerrouj is a retired Moroccan middle-distance runner. El Guerrouj is the current world record holder for the 1500 metres and mile, and the former world record holder in the 2000 metres. He is the only man since Paavo Nurmi to win a gold medal in both the 1500 m and 5000 metres at the same Olympic Games.
Sonia O'Sullivan is an Irish former track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in the 5000 metres at the 1995 World Championships, and a silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 2000 Olympic Games. Her 2000 m world record of 5:25.36, set in 1994 stood until 2017.
Lidia Chojecka-Leandro is a retired Polish middle- and long-distance runner who mainly competed in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. She won bronze medals in the 1500 m at the 1997 and 1999 World Indoor Championships, and for the 3000 m at the 2006 World Indoor Championships. Chojecka is a six-time European Indoor Championships medallist in the 1500 m and 3000 m events, earning three golds and three silvers. She took the double at the 2007 European Indoor Championships, becoming the first runner, male or female, to win both events at the same championships. She had been one of the most consistent middle-distance runners in Europe throughout the 1990s, and finished fifth and sixth in back-to-back Olympic 1500 m finals in 2000 and 2004.

Enrique Molina Vargas is a retired Spanish runner who specialized in the 5000 metres.
Marcin Przemysław Lewandowski is a Polish retired middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and silver in the same event at the 2018 World Indoor Championships. At the European Athletics Championships, Lewandowski claimed gold in the 800 metres in 2010 and silvers in 2016 and 2018 for the 800 m and 1500 m respectively. He took also five medals at the European Indoor Championships, including three golds between 2015 and 2019, and two silvers in 2011 and 2021.
Ayanleh Souleiman, also known as Hassan Ayanleh, is a Djiboutian middle distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. He is the Djiboutian record holder for the distance, with his best of 3:29.58 minutes, as well as being the 3000 metres holder with 7:42.22 minutes. He also holds the indoor world record for the 1000-meter which he achieved at the 2016 Globengalan event in Stockholm Sweden. He also set a new IAAF Diamond League record at the IAAF Diamond League in August 2016 in the men's 1000 meters

Pamenos Avorsant Ballantyne is a long-distance runner from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He represented his country in the marathon at two consecutive Summer Olympics starting in 1996.
Fumikazu Kobayashi is a Japanese athlete who competes primarily in the 1500 metres. He competed at 2005 and 2007 World Championships reaching the semifinals stage the second time. He holds national records at several distances.
Malin Ewerlöf-Krepp is retired Swedish athlete who competed in the middle-distance events. She represented her country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in both 800 and 1500 metres, reaching semifinals in the latter. She won the 800 metres silver medal at the 1998 European Championships.
Yamna Oubouhou is a long-distance runner competing internationally for France. She first competed in the track events before moving up to the marathon.
Pieter-Jan Hannes is a Belgian athlete specialising in the middle-distance events, primarily the 1500 metres, as well as cross-country running. He represented his country at the 2013 World Championships without qualifying for the semifinals. He also won a gold medal at the 2013 European U23 Championships.
Jacinto Germán Navarrete Rodríguez is a retired Colombian athlete who competed in middle-distance and cross-country events. He represented his country at two World Indoor Championships and currently holds the South American record in the indoor 3000 metres.

Mario García Romo is a Spanish middle-distance runner, who specializes in the 1500 metres. He was the national champion in the event in 2022, and he represented Spain in the 1500 m at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, finishing fourth and sixth.
