Alipurduar railway division

Alipurduar railway division is one of the five railway divisions under Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways. This railway division was formed on 15 January 1958 and its headquarter is located at Alipurduar in the state of West Bengal.

Katihar railway division, Lumding railway division, Tinsukia railway division and Rangiya railway division are the other four railway divisions under the NFR Zone headquartered at Maligaon, Guwahati. [1] [2]

Sikkim connection

The construction of a new 44.4-kilometre (27.6 mi) long Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Line from Sivok railway station in Sevoke on the New Jalpaiguri–Alipurduar–Samuktala Road line in West Bengal to Rangpo railway station in Rangpo, Sikkim commenced in 2010. [3] [4] The railway line up to Rangpo is expected to be completed in 2021. [5] In the second phase the line will be extended up to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. [6]

Sivok railway station is a junction railway station in Darjeeling district, West Bengal. Its code is SVQ. It serves Sevoke town. The station consists of two platforms. The station lies on New Jalpaiguri–Siliguri–New Mal Junction–Hasimara–Alipurduar Junction route under Alipurduar division of Northeast Frontier Railway. It is also the originating point of the Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Line which is under construction. This railway station is a scenic railway station as it falls under Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary just ahead of Sevoke Railway Bridge over river Teesta.

Rangpo railway station is an under-construction railway station lying on Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Line in Pakyong District of Sikkim. Its code is RNGPO. It will serve Rangpo city, and three districts of Sikkim, which are Pakyong District, Gangtok District and Mangan District. It is 38 km (24 mi) from the state capital of Gangtok and 21 km (13 mi) from Pakyong Airport. The station will consist of three platforms and four lines after completion. It is expected to be completed by December 2023.

The New Mal–Changrabandha–New Cooch Behar line are a set of 2 lines which connect Changrabandha, a border transit point near Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district with the stations of New Mal in Jalpaiguri district and New Cooch Behar in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It is under the jurisdiction of Northeast Frontier Railway. The Malbazar–Changrabandha section of the line was a metre-gauge line, before its gauge conversion began on 2002. The Malbazar–Changrabandha section was re-opened to public on 20 January 2016 after gauge conversion. The New Changrabandha–New Cooch Behar broad-gauge line was built as an extension as a part of the New Maynaguri–Jogighopa rail line to provide an alternate link from North Bengal to Assam and was opened to public on 21 February 2016.

Gulma railway Station is a small railway station, which serves Northern regions of Siliguri Metropolitan Areas like Milan More, Debidanga, Kherjhora, Anchal, Champasari, Sisabari, Babubasa etc., in Siliguri, West Bengal. It is 10 km away from Siliguri Junction. It lies in New Jalpaiguri–Alipurduar–Samuktala Road line of Northeast Frontier Railway, Alipurduar railway division. The station lies near the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. The other stations serving Siliguri are Siliguri Junction, Siliguri Town, Bagdogra, Matigara and New Jalpaiguri.

Sivok-Rangpo Railway Line is a line currently under construction to connect the Indian states of West Bengal and Sikkim. It branches out from New Jalpaiguri–Alipurduar–Samuktala Road line at Sivok railway station, Sevoke Town near Siliguri in Darjeeling district and runs through villages and towns of Kalimpong district of West Bengal and terminates in Rangpo Railway Station in Rangpo, Pakyong District of Sikkim. In the second phase of construction, this line will be extended till Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, and later to the Nathu La pass, along the border with Tibet. This railway line lies under Northeast Frontier Railway zone Alipurduar railway division. The total length of this railway line is 44.96 Kilometres.

Sevoke Railway Bridge is the railway bridge on River Teesta near Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary at Sevoke, West Bengal, India. The railway bridge is about 396.1 metres long and connects Darjeeling district with Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The bridge lies on New Jalpaiguri–Alipurduar–Samuktala Road line of Northeast Frontier Railway, Alipurduar Division.

Melli Railway Station lies in the town of Melli, Kalimpong district, West Bengal. The station lies in the under construction Sivok-Rangpo Railway Line. Melli Railway Station serves city of Kalimpong in West Bengal, and Namchi District, Geyzing District and Soreng District of Sikkim. The station is currently under construction by IRCON company.

Riyang Railway Station/Raing Railway Station is the railway station which serves Rambi Bazar and nearby areas in Kalimpong district of West Bengal. It is currently under construction on the Sivok–Rangpo line of the Northeast Frontier Railway, Alipurduar railway division.

Tista Bazaar Railway Station is the railway station which serves Teesta Bazaar and nearby areas like Kalimpong, Tribeni, Lopchu, Peshok, Chitrey etc in Kalimpong district of West Bengal. It is an Underground Railway Station which is under construction on Sivok–Rangpo line of Northeast Frontier Railway, Alipurduar railway division.

One of The Oldest Passenger Train of Northeast Frontier Railway 15703 / 04 New Jalpaiguri - Bongaigaon Express is an Express train belonging to Indian Railways Northeast Frontier Railway zone that runs between New Jalpaiguri Junction of Siliguri, West Bengal and Bongaigaon of Assam in India.
