All India Management Association (AIMA) is the national apex body of the management profession in India. A not-for-profit, non-lobbying organisation, working closely with Industry, Government, Academia and students to further the cause of the management profession in India. It has a membership base of over 38000 members and close to 6000 corporate /institutional members, through its 67 Local Management Associations. It was established in 1957. [1] Among its activities, AIMA conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for admission into Management Colleges across India, is represented in national forums and organisations and annual awards.

History

AIMA was established in 1957 following the establishment of India's first industrialization policy in 1956. [2]

Management team

AIMA is managed by a president, a senior vice president, a vice president, a treasurer and a director general. As of 2022, the president is Shrinivas V Dempo. [3]

Activities

AIMA conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) used by over 600 business schools across India. [4] Other tests conducted include the Research Management Aptitude Test (RMAT), Under Graduate Aptitude Test (UGAT), Accredited Management Teacher (AMT) certification and other customised tests. [5]

AIMA is represented on various national bodies and organisations including the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) [1] and the board of governors of various Indian Institutes of Management. [6]

AIMA awards various annual awards. The Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education, awarded since 2009, [7] was awarded to Bala V. Balachandran in 2018. [8]

Meenakshi Gopinath is an Indian educationist, political scientist, writer and a former principal of Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi. She is the founder and incumbent director of the Women in Security Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP), a non governmental organization promoting peace and socio-political leadership among the women of South Asia and a former member of the National Security Advisory Board, the first woman to serve the Government of India agency. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Management Aptitude Test</span>

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standard aptitude test conducted in India since 1998 by the All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT is used for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and allied programmes by over 600 business schools across India. It was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2003.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) was set up as a public private partnership model on the model existing in Netherlands at the time, where although the NAB was not owned by the government, yet it was supported by it and was exceedingly used as a third party agency to improve quality in departments and industry. QCI thus, came to be organized as an independent autonomous body that worked towards assuring quality standards across all spheres of economic and social activities. Key industry associations, i.e. Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) became the promoters of the organizers and QCI got established under the Societies Registration Act in 1996 to provide accreditation services in various sectors for product, services and persons.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is India's first transport University located in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. The University is presently located inside the lush green 55-acre campus of Ministry of Railways's apex training institution, National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR).It also have facility of 100% scholarship for student whose family income is less than 1 lakh annually in tuition fees and 50% in mess fees also.

The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli is a national research deemed university near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded as Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappalli in 1964 by the governments of India and Tamil Nadu under the affiliation of the University of Madras. The college was granted deemed university status in 2003 with the approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Government of India and renamed the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management - KundliSonipat (NIFTEM-KS) is a higher education institute operating under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI). It offers academic curriculum in food technology and supply leading to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), and Ph.D degrees. It is located at Kundli industrial area of Sonipat, Haryana, India. It was granted the Institute of National Importance status in 2021.
