Alyssa Brito is an American former college softball player for Oregon and Oklahoma. While at Oklahoma she won the Women's College World Series championship three consecutive years.
Brito began her high school career at Foothill High School in Santa Ana,California during her freshman year. She then attended Pacifica High School in Garden Grove,California. [1] During her sophomore year in 2018,she was named first-team All-Empire League. During her junior year in 2019,she hit .510 with 12 home runs and 45 RBIs. Following the season she was named defensive player of the year and first-team all-league honors in the Empire League after helping to lead Pacifica to a league title. During her senior year in 2020,she hit .519 with six home runs over nine games in a season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She as a three-time California all-state selection and Ranked No. 32 in the FloSoftball rankings and No. 17 in the Extra Inning Softball top 100. [2]
Brito began her collegiate for Oregon during the 2021 season. She started 53 games at shortstop and hit .299 with 10 home runs five doubles,a triple,31 RBIs,and 30 runs scored while drawing 15 walks. She committed just four errors in 136 chances,and went 81 straight chances without making an error to begin her collegiate career. She also had a perfect fielding percentage and 152 putouts at first base. [2] She hit .667 (6 for 9) with two home runs,nine RBIs and six runs scored in three run-rule wins. She was subsequently named the Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the week,and D1Softball National Freshman of the week for the week ending March 16,2021. [3] Following the season she was named a second team all-Pac-12,Pac-12 all-freshman team and Pac-12 all-defensive team honoree. [4]
On May 28,2021,Brito entered the NCAA transfer portal. [5] On July 2,2021,she transferred to Oklahoma. [6] [7]
During her sophomore year in 2022,she appeared in 61 games with 50 starts,and hit .368 with 14 home runs,seven doubles and 46 RBIs. During game one of the 2022 Women's College World Series championship series against Texas she went 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. During game two she went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles,two runs scored and one RBI,to help Oklahoma win the national championship. During her junior year in 2023,she appeared in all 62 games with 61 starts at third base,and hit .412 with 17 home runs,17 doubles,60 RBIs,48 runs scored and 140 total bases. She led the team in doubles,tied for the team-lead in home runs and ranked second in batting average. She also led the team with an .824 slugging percentage and ranked third on the team with a .477 on-base percentage. Defensively she had a .960 fielding percentage with 45 putouts,76 assists and only five errors. During the regional finals of the 2023 NCAA Division I softball tournament against California,she went 2-for-3 with two home runs and tied a career-high with five RBIs. During the 2023 Women's College World Series,she hit .417,with one RBI,two runs scored,and drawing three walks,to help Oklahoma win their third consecutive national championship. During her senior year in 2024,she started all 65 games at third base,and hit .399 with 18 home runs,16 doubles,four triples,61 RBIs,64 runs scored and an .803 slugging percentage. Defensively she had a .964 fielding percentage with 37 putouts,95 assists and only five errors. [8] [15] She helped lead Oklahoma to fourth consecutive national championship. [16] [17] [18] Following the season she was named an all-Big 12 first team honoree and an NFCA first team All-American for the second consecutive year. [19] [20] She was also named NCAA Division I Softball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. She finished her career at Oklahoma with a .395 batting average,49 home runs and 167 RBI in 188 games. [21] [22]
On March 20,2024,Brito was named an ambassador for BSN Sports' SURGE program. SURGE stands for Strength,Unity,Resilience,Growth,and Equity,and aims to empower girls to stay in sports. [23]
Stacey "Nuvey" Nuveman-Deniz is an American,former professional softball player and current head coach at San Diego State. She played for the UCLA Bruins at the catcher position on-and-off from 1997 to 2002,winning a National Championship in 1999. She also won two Olympic gold medals and one silver medal for Team USA.
Jenny Louise Topping is an American,former collegiate four-time first team All-American,medal winning Olympian,retired professional All-Star softball player. Topping played college softball at Washington and Cal State Fullerton primarily as a catcher. She is best known for being a member of the United States women's national softball team at the 2004 Summer Olympics that won a gold medal. She also played professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch for the Akron Racers.
Kaitlin Elizabeth Cochran is an American,former collegiate four-time first team All-American,retired softball player. She attended Rosary High School and Arizona State University from 2006 to 2009,where she won the 2008 Women's College World Series title. Also with United States women's national softball team,she won four World Cup of Softball crowns. She holds various records for the Sun Devils in the Pac-12 Conference. She was drafted first overall in the National Pro Fastpitch but elected not to play. She is also one of nine NCAA Division I players to bat .400 with 200 RBIs,50 home runs and an .800 slugging percentage for a career.
Keilani Johanna Ricketts Tumanuvao is an American softball pitcher for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball at Oklahoma from 2010 to 2013,where she was the starting pitcher and helped to lead the Sooners to the national championship in 2013. As a member of the United States women's national softball team she won 2011 World Cup of Softball. Ricketts currently plays for the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch. She is the Sooners career leader in wins and strikeouts. She also ranks for career records in both the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA Division I,where she is one three players to win 100 games with 1,000 strikeouts and hit 50 home runs.
Lauren Nicole Chamberlain is an American retired softball infielder. Chamberlain played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners softball from 2012 to 2015. A collegiate All-American,she was part of the 2013 Women's College World Series championship team. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in slugging percentage. She also holds the school and Big 12 Conference career lead in RBIs,walks,total bases and runs. She was drafted #1 and played professional softball for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch from 2015 to 2018,winning a title in her final season in 2018.
Sydney Joy Romero is a Mexican American professional softball player and current assistant coach for Oregon. She previously played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners,where she set numerous program records and led the Sooners to four consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2016 to 2019,and won the national championship as a Freshman in 2016 and Sophomore in 2017. She played professionally for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch. She represented Mexico at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Dejah Monique Mulipola is an American professional softball catcher for the Oklahoma City Spark of Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball at Arizona from 2017 to 2021 where she was twice named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American. She has been a member of the United States women's national softball team since 2019 and helped them win a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She played in Athletes Unlimited Softball where she won the 2022 championship as the top individual points leader.
Jocelyn Aloha Pumehana Alo is an American professional softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball for the Oklahoma Sooners. Alo was named 2018 NFCA National Freshman of the Year,and named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in home runs. Alo was drafted first overall by the Smash It Vipers in the inaugural WPF draft.
Tiare Rose Jennings is an American former college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a freshman in 2021,she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year and Softball America Freshman of the Year. While at Oklahoma she won the Women's College World Series championship four consecutive years.
Marshaylee Knighten is an American former professional softball player for the USSSA Pride and current assistant head coach for the San Diego Toreros softball team. She previously played college softball for Oklahoma,where she led the team to four consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2016 to 2019,and won the national championship as a freshman in 2016 and sophomore in 2017. She was named WCWS Most Outstanding Player in 2017.
Jayda Coleman is an American professional softball player for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Association of Fastpitch Professionals (AFP). She played college softball at Oklahoma where she won the Women's College World Series championship four consecutive years.
