Kelly Maxwell (born April 11, 2000) is an American former college softball pitcher for Oklahoma State and Oklahoma and member of the United States women's national softball team.
Maxwell attended Clear Springs High School in League City, Texas where she lettered in softball all four years. She was named the Clear Springs' MVP in 2015, 2016 and 2018. She missed her junior season due to injury. She returned in her senior season and was named to the NFCA High School All-Region team and named the 2018 Galveston County Player of the Year. [1]
Maxwell began her collegiate career at Oklahoma State. She redshirted during the 2019 season. During the 2020 season in her redshirt freshman year, she made 11 appearances, with eight starts, and posted a 6–3 record with a 1.51 ERA in 46+1⁄3 innings, in a season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1] She pitched a perfect game in her first career start on February 5, 2020, in a game against Florida A&M. She was subsequently named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on February 11, 2020. [2] On March 8, 2020, she threw a no-hitter in a game against Missouri State. She became the second pitcher since Lauren Bay in 2002 to pitch a perfect game and a no-hitter in the same season, and the first Oklahoma State freshman pitcher to record multiple no-hitters in the same season. During the 2021 season, in her redshirt sophomore year, she appeared in 28 games with 19 starts, and posted a 15–5 record with a 1.81 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 116 innings. She finished the season with 8.87 strikeouts per seven innings, which ranked seventh on the Oklahoma State all-time single-season list. She started the season with 25+2⁄3 consecutive scoreless innings and 36+2⁄3 innings without an earned run. [1] On February 23, 2021, she threw her first no-hitter of the season in game against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi. [5]
During the 2022 season, in her redshirt junior year, she appeared in 35 games with 28 starts, and posted a 21–5 record with a 1.22 ERA, 313 strikeouts, 20 complete-games and 12 shutouts in 189+2⁄3 innings. She earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors on four occasions in 2022, the most by any pitcher in the conference. She led the conference with 11.58 strikeouts per seven innings, 12 shutouts and 313 strikeouts. She became the third pitcher in program history to surpass 300 strikeouts in a season following Lauren Bay and Melanie Roche. [1] Following an outstanding season, she was named Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 selection. [6] She was also named a unanimous first team All-American and a top-ten finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. [7]
During the 2023 season, in her redshirt senior year, she appeared in 33 games with 24 starts, and posted a 16–7 record with a 1.91 ERA, 229 strikeouts, nine complete-games, four shutouts and a career-high five saves in 142+2⁄3 innings. She led the Big 12 and ranked second nationally with 11.2 strikeouts per seven innings. Her career total of 10.6 strikeouts per seven innings is an Oklahoma State record. [1] Following the season she was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection. [8]
On July 7, 2023, Maxwell entered the NCAA transfer portal. On August 3, 2023, she announced she would transfer to Oklahoma for her final year of eligibility. [9] [10]
During the 2024 season, in her graduate student year, she posted a 23–2 record with three saves and 164 strikeouts in 155+1⁄3 innings. She helped lead Oklahoma to the 2024 NCAA Division I softball tournament, where she went 5–0 during the tournament, with a 1.88 ERA and 45 strikeouts. [11] During game one of championship series at the 2024 Women's College World Series, she pitched a one-hitter into the sixth inning before Texas scored two unearned runs on an error that was followed by two run-scoring singles. She finished the game with eight strikeouts, four walks and four hits on 119 pitches. [12] [13] During game two of the championship series she came on in relief and pitched 1+1⁄3 innings and earned the save, as Oklahoma won their fourth consecutive national championship. Maxwell represented the United States at the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup and won a silver medal. [17] [18]
Lauren Bay-Regula is a Canadian softball pitcher. She played college softball at Oklahoma State from 2000 to 2003, where she holds several all-time school records. She was a part of the Canadian softball team who finished ninth at the 2002 World Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and fifth at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Bay-Regula pitched in 2005 for the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch and was named co-Pitcher of the Year; in 2006, Bay signed with the expansion Philadelphia Force. Bay-Regula represented Team Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal.
Catherine Leigh Osterman is a retired American softball player. Osterman pitched on the United States women's national softball team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and silver medal at the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Alicia Kay Hollowell-Dunn is an American, former collegiate four-time All-American, retired professional softball pitcher and assistant coach. She played college softball at Arizona Wildcats softball from 2003 to 2006, collecting 144 career wins and 1,768 strikeouts, both top-10 NCAA career records. She currently holds the Arizona Wildcats records for career strikeouts, shutouts and innings pitched, in addition to the Pac-12 Conference wins and strikeout ratio records. Hollowell won the 2006 Women's College World Series.
Debra "Debbie" Ann Doom is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired professional right-handed softball pitcher originally from Tempe, Arizona. She played for the UCLA Bruins from 1982-1985 and the United States' national softball team just prior to the major boom in the sport's popularity both in America and worldwide. She was the singularly most dominant pitcher in softball during her career and was remarkable for her exceptional fastball and her height. She ranks currently in numerous softball records for the Bruins and in the NCAA Division I. Doom was named the Women's Professional Softball League's inaugural World Series MVP in 1997.
Keilani Johanna Ricketts Tumanuvao is an American softball pitcher for the Oklahoma City Spark of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball at Oklahoma from 2010 to 2013, where she was the starting pitcher and helped to lead the Sooners to the national championship in 2013. As a member of the United States women's national softball team she won 2011 World Cup of Softball. Ricketts currently plays for the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch. She is the Sooners career leader in wins and strikeouts. She also ranks for career records in both the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA Division I, where she is one three players to win 100 games with 1,000 strikeouts and hit 50 home runs.
Joseph William Kelly Jr. is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago White Sox. He played college baseball for the UC Riverside Highlanders. He has served as both a starter and a reliever. The Cardinals drafted Kelly in the third round of the 2009 MLB draft. Listed at 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) and 190 pounds (86 kg), Kelly throws and bats right-handed.
Kelly Katlyn Barnhill is an American professional softball pitcher. She played college softball for the Florida Gators from 2016 to 2019, earning All-American honors during her tenure with the team. She was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Honda Sports Award, and espnW Player of the Year in 2017. She is the career no hitters (7), strikeouts, strikeout ratio (10.5) and WHIP leader for the Gators. She also ranks in career strikeout ratio for both the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA Division I.
Taran Mackenzie Alvelo is an American professional softball player for the USSSA Pride of the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball at Washington, where she led the Huskies to three consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2017 to 2019. She represented Puerto Rico at the World Cup of Softball, and won a gold medal at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games. Alvelo stands at 5’10 and weighs 350 pounds.
Rachel Lauren Garcia is an American former softball pitcher. She most recently served as the pitching coach for UC San Diego. She played college softball for the UCLA Bruins and led the Bruins to the 2019 Women's College World Series championship, where she was named the Most Outstanding Player.
Blaire Luna is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed pro softball pitcher, originally from Austin, Texas. She attended Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. She later attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she pitched for the Texas Longhorns softball team in the Big 12 Conference and was named a Second Team and three-time First Team All-Conference honoree. She currently ranks 10th in career strikeout ratio for the NCAA Division I. In her senior year, Luna led Texas softball to a berth in the 2013 Women's College World Series semifinals, where they lost to Tennessee, 2–0. She later went on to play professional softball for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch, and internationally in New Zealand.

Alex Ryann Storako is an American softball pitcher for the Oklahoma City Spark of Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF). She played college softball for Michigan and Oklahoma. As a junior in 2021, she set a Michigan program record with 22 strikeouts in a game and was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year.
