Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla , UYSM,YSM, SM, VSM (born 3 December 1966) is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the Master General Sustenance (MGS). [1] [2] [3] He earlier served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps(XV). [4] [5]
Aujla hails from Mohali, Punjab, and is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He has attended highly regarded career courses including the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow and National Defence College, New Delhi. He holds M Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Devi Ahilya University, Indore , and also from Madras University, Chennai.
Aujla was commissioned into the 13th Battalion The Rajputana Rifles on 19 Dec 1987. The General has experience in Counter Insurgency Operations having served multiple times in Jammu and Kashmir. He has commanded the 15th Battalion The Rajputana Rifles in deserts, an Infantry Brigade, and an Infantry Division (Vajra Division) along the Line of Control in North Kashmir.
Aujla has held numerous Instructional and Staff appointments which include two tenures as an instructor at the Commando Wing, The Infantry School, Belgaum and an instructor tenure at HQ IMTRAT, Bhutan, a tenure as Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade during OP PARAKRAM, Colonel General Staff in a Corps HQ, Director Perspective Planning in IHQ of MoD (Army), Brigadier General Staff (Operations) at Chinar Corps, Brigadier Infantry (C) at Infantry Directorate, IHQ of MoD (Army) and Major General Staff (Operations) at HQ Northern Command.
Aujla commanded the 268 Infantry Brigade from 30 Dec 2013 to 15 Jun 2015. Numerous successful operations were conducted under his stewardship leading to the establishment of complete dominance and absolute control along the line of Control while giving impetus to Defence Infrastructure development in a huge way. Aujla 28 Infantry Division from 1 Nov 2019 to 3 Dec 2020. Under his leadership, a series of highly successful operations were executed, resulting in the firm establishment of total supremacy and unchallenged control along the Line of Control.
Aujla commanded the prestigious XV Corps as the 51st General Officer Commanding by assuming charge on 10 May 2022. "Emphasizing the Essence of Ground Soldiership" the mainstay of his mission was to connect with every man on the field. During the course of his tenure, a reenactment of the historic Budgam landing unfolded, which was a poignant reminder of the Indian Army's triumph in the face of the first war initiated by the Pakistani forces, a testament to the indomitable spirit and glory of our Armed Forces.
Aujla was awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal in 2023, [7] the Yudh Seva Medal in 2021, [8] the Sena Medal in 2019, the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2016 and the COAS and GOC-in-C Commendation Card for his service.
XV Corps, or 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps, is a Corps of the Indian Army which is presently located in Srinagar and responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley. It has participated in all military conflicts with Pakistan and China to date. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai is its current Corps Commander since 14 June 2023 taking over from Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla.
Lieutenant General Om Prakash, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM is a retired General of the Indian Army. He was the commander of the XV Corps in 2012.
Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, ADC is a retired general officer of the Indian Army who served as 39th Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). He assumed office on 1 June 2018 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Sarath Chand, and retired on 31 August 2019. He also served as General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command from 1 December 2016 to 31 May 2018, prior to that commanding Northern Command, he had commanded IV Corps in the North East.
Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC is a retired officer of Indian Army. He served as General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command from 1 October 2018 following the retirement of Lieutenant General Balwant Singh Negi, to 30 September 2019. He was succeeded by Lieutenant General Iqroop Singh Ghuman. Prior to that, he commanded the Eastern Command and South Western Command of the Indian Army
Lieutenant General Balwant Singh Negi, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, SM, VSM & Bar is a former General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command of the Indian Army who served in office from 1 December 2015 till 30 September 2018. He assumed the post after Lt General Rajan Bakshi retired and was succeeded by Lt General Abhay Krishna.
Lieutenant General Amarjeet Singh Bedi PVSM UYSM, YSM, VSM is a former Commander of the IV Corps of the Indian Army and assumed office on 25 November 2016. He assumed the post from Lt General Devraj Anbu.
Lieutenant General Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM was the Military Secretary of the Indian Army and assumed office on 01 February 2018. He was the 46th Commander, XV Corps of the Indian Army and was in office from 1 November 2016 to 31 January 2018. He assumed the post from Lt General Satish Dua and was succeeded by Lt General Anil Kumar Bhatt.
Lieutenant General Rajendra Ramrao Nimbhorkar, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM**, VSM is a former officer of the Indian Army who served as the Master General Ordnance (MGO). He assumed office on 9 August 2017 after Lieutenant General Ravi Thodge retired. He was part of one of the strike corp which was responsible for carrying out three strikes inside POK in Surgical Strikes held in 2016 by the Indian Army to clean out all the Pakistani Terrorists Camps. As surgical strikes were carried out very secretly to maintain surprise, so very few people knew of them, one of those involved was Lt. Gen. Nimbhorkar.
Lieutenant General Satinder Kumar Saini, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, ADC was the 41st Vice Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army and assumed the office on 25 January 2020. He previously served as General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C) Southern Command.
Lieutenant General Ajae Kumar Sharma, UYSM, YSM, SM was the former Commander, XVI Corps of the Indian Army and served from 9 October 2016 till 10 October 2017. He assumed the post from Lt General Rajendra Ramrao Nimbhorkar and succeeded was Lt General succeeded by Saranjeet Singh.
Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM is a retired General Officer of the Indian Army and the Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) of IIT Mandi. He last served as the Director General Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence) under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) from 9 March 2020 to 31 January 2022. Prior to this, he served as the 48th Commander of the XV Corps assuming the post from Lieutenant General Anil Kumar Bhatt.
Lieutenant General Raj Shukla, PVSM,YSM, SM, ADC is a retired General Officer of the Indian Army who served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command. He assumed office on 1 May 2020, succeeding Lt Gen P C Thimayya. He superannuated on 31 March 2022. He is currently, a member of the Union Public Service Commission.
Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM is a retired general officer of the Indian Army. He was the Commandant of the Army War College, Mhow. He previously served as the General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar based Chinar Corps(XV) succeeding Lieutenant General B. S. Raju after the latter completed his term as the Corps Commander. Prior to his appointment as the Chinar Corps Commander, the general served as the first Director General of Territorial Army of the Indian Army.

He previously held the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command. He earlier served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff at HQ IDS, prior to this he was General Officer Commanding XVI Corps. He also served as Chief of Staff of the Western Command. The general officer is also the COLONEL of the MADRAS REGIMENT since 01 Jan 2021.
