Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma (born October 26,1957) is a Zambian politician,businessman,and economist. He is Zambia's current Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for Kabompo. [1]
Ambrose was born to Raphael Lufuma and Chisengo in 1957,in Kawanda Village of Kabompo. He attended Kawanda Primary School. In 1972,he was transferred to Mpima Seminary for his high school education. [2]
In 1976,Ambrose joined the Zambia National Service and underwent military training after graduating from high school. He,later,was selected to go the University of Zambia;there he studied Economics.
In the 90s,Ambrose became friends with UPND founder,Anderson Mazoka and soon joined his political party. He contested in the 2011 and 2016 Zambian general election as Kabompo Member of Parliament and he emerged victorious in both. Ambrose contested in the 2021 Zambian general election,as an MP for Kabompo,again,he emerged victorious. A few weeks later,he was appointed as the Minister of Defence by President Hichilema. [3]

General elections were held in Solomon Islands on 3 April 2019 to determine the composition of the 11th Parliament. The election was the first to occur since the conclusion of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) in 2017. Parliament passed amendments to the electoral act in 2018 that included the introduction of pre-polling,a significant increase in campaign budgets for candidates and stricter penalties for individuals committing electoral offences such as vote-buying. Ten of the thirteen parties that contested the election won seats,and the Solomon Islands Democratic Party and the Kadere Party were the parties that secured the highest number,winning eight each. However,as in previous elections,independent candidates won the largest share of seats,securing 21.
