[1] The primary objective of the Ministry is to maintain peace and stability, thereby facilitating national development. The mandate of the MoD is outlined in Government Gazette Notice No. 547 of 2004, which emphasizes its role in safeguarding the territorial integrity of Zambia. The Ministry of Defence also oversees several key functions: Combined Cadet Force, Home Guards, National Defence Policy, War Graves and Memorials, Zambia Defence Force and Zambia National Service.
