The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI) is a cabinet level government ministry of Zambia. It is responsible for the development of a globally competitive, sustainable, commercial, trade and industrial base in Zambia with the objective of contributing to social and economic development in the country. [1] The ministry is headed by the Minister Commerce, Trade and Industry.

Location

The headquarters of the MCTI are located on the eighth, ninth and tenth Floors of the New Government Complex, in the Lusaka neighbourhood of Cathedral Hill. [2]

Overview

The ministry is headed by a cabinet minister, assisted by a deputy minister, both of whom are political appointees. The Permanent Secretary, a career civil servant, oversees the five departments of the ministry. Each of the five departments is headed by a departmental director. [3]

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is a central government department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India. It is responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector, keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives. While individual administrative ministries look after the production, distribution, development and planning aspects of specific industries allocated to them, DPIIT is responsible for the overall industrial policy. Margaret Mwanakatwe Zambian accountant, bank executive and politician

Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe is a Zambian politician who was the Minister of Finance from 14 February 2018 to 14 July 2019. She worked previously as a businesswoman, accountant, and bank executive. She was the director for business development in Anglophone Africa at the United Bank for Africa at the bank's headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, she supervised business development in Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Before that, she served as the managing director and chief executive officer of the United Bank for Africa Uganda Limited from March 2009 until May 2011.

Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (Nepal)

The Nepalese Ministry of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies is a governmental body of Nepal to monitor and manage industries of the country. One of the major sub departments is the Department of Industry, which is responsible for the implementation of rules and regulations made by the ministry. In 2018, under the second Oli cabinet, the portfolio of the ministry was enlarged and the portfolios of Commerce and Supplies was added to the then Ministry of Industry, while the Ministry of Commerce was discontinued. The state agencies that form Thailand's public sector consist of several types of functioning bodies. While some agencies established by mandate of the constitution are independent, others are directly or indirectly answerable to the executive of the Royal Thai Government. Emmanuel Tawanda Chenda is a Zambian politician and diplomat. He served as Member of the National Assembly for Bwana Mkubwa between 2011 and 2016. He also held the posts of Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry and Minister of Local Government and Housing between 2011 and 2015. In November 2017 he was appointed Ambassador to neighbouring Zimbabwe.

Dorothy Tembo Zambian economist (born 1961)

Dorothy (Ng’ambi) Tembo is a Zambian economist and trade and development expert. She is the deputy executive director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.
