The American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Half-Hour Series for Television is a former award, broadly awarding a variety of comedic shows. In 2018, the category dropped running time distinctions, as well as adding distinctions between viewing types (commercial television vs. non-commercial), and became Best Edited Comedy Series for Commercial Television and Best Edited Comedy Series for Non-Commercial Television respectively. In 2021, the comedy series categories were re-arranged into Best Edited Single-Camera Comedy Series and Best Edited Multi-Camera Comedy Series.

Founded in 1950, American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of film editors who are voted in based on the qualities of professional achievements, their education of others, and their dedication to editing. Members use the post-nominal letters "ACE". The organization's "Eddie Awards" are routinely covered in trade magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. The society is not an industry union, such as the I.A.T.S.E., to which an editor might also belong. The current president of ACE is Kevin Tent, who was elected in 2020.

He is best known internationally for his work on multiple Academy Award winner Parasite as editor, which earned him critical appraisal and recognition including an American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Dramatic at the American Cinema Editors Awards in 2020 and the 2019 Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing. This made Parasite the first non-English-language film to win the top prize at the American Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards. He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Editing for his work on Parasite.

Skip Macdonald is an American film and television editor known for his work on Breaking Bad (2008–2013), its spin-off series Better Call Saul (2015–2022), and the 2019 sequel film El Camino. He also edited several episodes for Fargo. Macdonald has earned a total of ten Emmy Award nominations. In 2014, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for the series finale of Breaking Bad.
