Amritpex 2023 was the national philatelic exhibition organized by India Post, Government of India in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Philatelic Congress of India (PCI). It was held at Halls No. 5 of the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Complex, New Delhi, India from 11 to 15 February 2023. [1] [2]
The five day event was inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communication and Electronics and Information Technology, [3] in attendance with Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications of India and Vineet Pandy, Secretary of the Department of Post.
To promote the event Department of Post unveiled a mascot, a mobile app, a short film, and a mini-exhibition with a stamp theme. [1] Exhibition mascot Philly was designed and inspired from Peacock, representing the national bird of India and symbolizes the Philatelic Division of Department of Posts, Government of India. [1] Dedicated Mobile app for the Amritpex-2023 was launched to the ease of visitors for the updates of events, history and services of India Post. [1]
Various activities like workshops, seminars and competitions including storytelling, envelope art with philately stamps, paper crafts, wall of Stamps, Live Painting by Artists and Painters, Curated and Guided Tours, Time Capsule, [1] kiosks to generate digital postcards, [4] letter writing, calligraphy [5] were organized to draw attention to school children.
Along with philatelic workshops cultural activities are organised. Dak Ghar Play by National School of Drama, Dance performance by Bal Bhawan, Kavi Sammelan by Jashn-e-Adab, Sitar performance by Utsad Shujaat Khan, Concert by Piyush Mishra, puppet show and youth parliament were major attraction of cultural events. During the exhibition, India Post released Se-tenant stamps on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 11 February 2023. Set of 2 miniature sheets on 'Bridal Costumes of India', with 4 stamps of Rs. 25.00 each were released on 12 February 2023. A miniature sheet containing 12 stamps of denomination Rs. 5.00 each was released on GI tag of agricultural products on 13 February. A series of special covers on Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti, International Year of Millets 2023, Nature & Wildlife of India and unsung heroes of freedom struggle of India, along with set of picture postcards on 'Flavours of Delhi' were released during the event. The National Philatelic Exhibition (referred to as Amritpex 2023) was organized under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations. Around 1,400 competitive exhibit frames displayed stamp presentations in numerous categories [2] created by around 300 collectors from all over India. [4]
The main themes of the exhibitions were: 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence and New India, Youth Power (Yuva Shakti), Women Power (Nari Shakti) Achivements@75Nature and Wildlife and Culture and History. [1] [2]
The philatelic exhibition at Amritpex 2023 holds competitions in the following classes:
To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence, a special section dedicated to the achievements of India at 75 (years) in collaboration with Ministry of Culture was added to the competition as AKAM (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) Class. Freedom Struggle, Ideas @75, Resolve @75, Actions @75, and Achievements @75 were the themes for the AKAM Class.

Jubba Sahni (1906–1944) was an Indian freedom-fighter and revolutionary. He accepted hanging at the age of 38 years on 11 March 1944. He is remembered as the bravest revolutionary in Bihar.
Lal Pratap Singh was a member of the Bisen Rajput dynasty of Kalakankar. He was prominent leader in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was killed during the 1858 Battle of Chanda. The Government of India issued a postage stamp on 17 December 2009 to commemorate him.
Garima Sanjay is an author of novels and short stories, as well as a script writer and documentary film producer. She has been working in the Indian media industry for over two decades. She has written numerous books on various topics. She has even made various documentary and short films for both government agencies and for private companies. She is a curator and content developer for museums too. Among many museums in her credit, she has also worked for the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, New Delhi, which was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on 14 April 2022. She also conceptualised and curated a digital exhibition on the occasion of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on the theme of "Contribution of Diaspora in the Indian Freedom Struggle". The exhibition was inaugurated by the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. EAM Shri S. Jai Shankar, Minister of Culture, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, were also present on the occasion.
Yerrapureddy Adinarayana Reddy was an Indian freedom fighter and politician. He organized the Individual Satyagraha Movement 1940 in the District and suffered three months in the Vellore Central Jail. During the Quit India Movement, he worked underground and later he was arrested and detained from 1942 to 1944 in the Vellore and Thanjavur Jails. He was a two term Member of Parliament, representing Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha the upper house of India's Parliament as a member of the Indian National Congress. He even served as Member of the Legislative Assembly of the earlier Madras Legislative Assembly and Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Rayachoti. He was also elected as MLC by Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.
Moji Riba(1911–1973) was the eldest son of Gomo Riba and Nyapu Riba, and was an Indian freedom fighter from a village called Dari in the Lepa Rada district of Arunachal Pradesh, previously known as North-East Frontier Tracts/North-East Frontier Agency, who participated in the Indian independence movement.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav or 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence was an event, in which the 75th anniversary of the independence of India was celebrated in India and abroad. It was the 76th Independence Day of India.
