Early years and introduction to tennis

Candiotto started playing tennis at a very young age and played in many youth tournaments. In her teenage years, she participated in several competitions organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), where she had the opportunity to compete against some of the world's best young tennis players. [2] [3]

In 2020, she received a wildcard for the girls' singles event at the 2020 French Open, but lost in the first round to Matilda Mutavdzic with scores of 5–7, 1–6. [4] [5]

In 2021, she was awarded a wildcard for the main draw of the women's singles event at the 2021 Aberto da República, a tournament with a prize pool of $60,000. She lost in the first round to You Xiaodi with scores of 1–6, 1–6.

In 2022, she competed in the girls' singles event at the 2022 Australian Open, losing in the first round to Tereza Valentová with scores of 3–6, 2–6. [6] In the girls' doubles event, she partnered with Li Yu-yun but was defeated in the first round by Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz and Taylah Preston with scores of 1–6, 6–1, [6–10]. [7] [8]

At the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, she entered the main draw of the girls' singles event as a lucky loser, but lost her opening match to the top seed and eventual champion Liv Hovde, with scores of 4–6, 1–6. [9]

In October, she competed in the women's singles event at the 2022 South American Games and reached the round of 16 after defeating Agustina Cuestas 6–1, 6–1. However, she was eliminated in the next round by María Herazo González with scores of 5–7, 4–6. At the end of 2022, she won her first two ITF doubles titles.

Transition to the professional circuit

Ana Candiotto's transition to the professional circuit took place gradually. Throughout 2022 and 2023, Candiotto participated in tournaments across various ITF categories, starting from the lowest level and moving up as her results propelled her forward. She won her first singles title at the São Paulo Tennis Classic in 2023, marking the start of a series of victories that would raise her profile. [10] [11]

Rise in 2023 and 2024

The year 2023 was particularly important for Ana, as she achieved a series of victories. In addition to her first singles title, Candiotto also won several doubles titles, including a victory at the São Paulo Tennis Classic, which brought her to her eighth and last title of the 2023 season. [12]

In 2024, Ana Candiotto competed on the European circuit, such as in tournaments in Greece and Spain, where she won her biggest title to date at the ITF event in Spain. [13] This victory was a significant milestone in her career and served as a springboard to achieve her best ranking position at that time. [14]

Candiotto was called to join the Team Brazil BRB, as part of a program supporting Brazilian tennis players on the international circuit. In November 2024, Ana participated in training sessions at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera, one of the training centers for Brazilian athletes, where she had the chance to be alongside other Brazilian tennis players that would participate at the Billie Jean King Cup. [15]

At a WTA 125 event in December, the 2024 MundoTenis Open, contested in Florianópolis, Candiotto was given a Wildcard to participate alongside Luiza Fullana. Her participation in higher-level tournaments helped her development as a player. [16]

2025: Representing Team Brazil for the first time

In February, Candiotto played at the doubles draw of an ITF W35 at Antalya, Turkey, partnering with fellow Brazilian Carolina Alves. They would stop in the first round with a two set loss against Amarissa Kiara Toth from Hungary and Živa Falkner from Slovenia.

In March, Candiotto was called by the Brazilian Tennis Confederation to participate at the Billie Jean King Cup in April and join the Team Brazil BRB for the first time in her career. [17]

Playing style

Candiotto is right-handed, with a two-handed backhand, and likes playing at both the baseline and at the net. [18]

Impact and future

Candiotto is considered one of the best prospects of Brazilian tennis with her journey on the international circuit marked by several victories and a rise in the rankings. [19]
