Career

Pedone made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2023 Palermo Ladies Open, partnering with Nuria Brancaccio.[ citation needed ]

She received a wildcard for the singles main draw at the 2024 Italian Open, losing in the first round to Rebecca Šramková. [2] The following week at the 2024 Emilia-Romagna Open, Pedone defeated Alycia Parks to reach the second round, [3] where she lost to fourth seed and eventual champion Anna Karolína Schmiedlová. [4]

Iga Świątek defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final, 6–2, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 Italian Open. This was her third title at the Italian Open in four years. She was the first woman to win a third title in Rome since Maria Sharapova in 2015, and the youngest to do so since Gabriela Sabatini in 1991. Świątek won the title without dropping a set or facing a tiebreak in any match; she became just the fifth woman to have won multiple titles in Rome without dropping a set.

The 2024 Emilia-Romagna Open was a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts in Sassuolo, Italy as an ATP Challenger Tour 125 event for the men and in Parma, Italy as a WTA 125 event for the women. The sixth edition of the men's event was held between 17 and 22 June on the 2024 ATP Challenger Tour and the fourth edition for the women as part of the 2024 WTA 125 tournaments between 13 and 18 May.
