Anaconda is an upcoming American action comedy horror film directed by Tom Gormican, written by Gormican and Kevin Etten, and starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd. The film is a reimagining of the 1997 film directed by Luis Llosa which starred Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, and is set to be produced by Columbia Pictures.
Anaconda is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 25, 2025.
On January 24, 2020, it was announced that Columbia Pictures was developing a reboot of the 1997 cult film Anaconda , with Evan Daugherty attached to write the screenplay. [1] In March 2023, Tom Gormican was announced as the director of the film. [2] In August 2024, Jack Black and Paul Rudd were cast in the leading roles, with Tom Gormican confirmed to direct from a screenplay written by Gormican and Kevin Etten. [3] In September, Daniela Melchior joined the cast. [4] In January 2025, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Selton Mello, and Ione Skye joined the cast, with principal photography beginning that month in Australia. [5]
