Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board is a statutory organisation of Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement Environment protective laws and rules.

Contents

It was established on 24 January 1976 to control water pollution in Andhra Pradesh. The additional responsibility to control air pollution was given in 1981.

Andhra Pradesh is a state in the south-eastern coastal region of India. It is the seventh-largest state by area covering an area of 162,975 km2 (62,925 sq mi) and tenth-most populous state with 49,386,799 inhabitants. Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park is a national park located in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The park has an approximate area of 390-acre (1.6 km2). The entire palace complex is spread over an area of 400 acres and was given to Prince Mukarram Jah on his coronation by his father Prince Azam Jah in 1967. It was declared as a National park by the Andhra Pradesh state government after getting approval from the central government in the year 1998. It is located centrally in Jubilee Hills and is described as a jungle amidst the concrete jungle.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India is a statutory organisation under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Mo.E.F.C.C.). It was established in 1974 under the Water Act, 1974. The CPCB is also entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air Act, 1981. It serves as a field formation and also provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station Building in India

Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant is a coal-fired power plant located in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The power plant is one of the coal fired power plants of NTPC, a Government of India enterprise. The coal for the power plant is sourced from Kalinga Block of Talcher Coal fields in Odisha. The plant is a national asset, and power generated is shared between multiple states, as the operator is national. Power generated by units 1 and 2, making up for 1,000 MW, is dedicated to power distribution companies owned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The remaining 1,000 MW, generated by units 3 and 4, is allocated to the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, A. P., Telangana and pondicherry as per their shares as decided in PPA.

Telangana Pollution Control Board

The Telangana Pollution Control Board is an ministry of Government of Telangana. It is body of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the State of Telangana, India. The board is charged with enforcing laws related to environmental protection.

Dilip K. Biswas is an Indian environmentalist and former chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board and Delhi Pollution Control Committee. He was a member of the panel which conducted ecological studies on Silent Valley and checked the feasibility of a hydro-electric project in the area, eventually recommending against project, leading to the declaration of Silent Valley as a National Park. He is the author of Implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism in Asia and the Pacific: Issues, Challenges, and Opportunities, a report published by the United Nations as a guideline for the implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), prescribed by Kyoto Protocol. His contributions are also reported behind the drafting of the environment management laws in Lucknow, the capital city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2007, for his contributions to science and technology.

The Visakhapatnam gas leak, also referred to as the Vizag gas leak, was an industrial accident that occurred at the LG Polymers chemical plant in the R. R. Venkatapuram village of the Gopalapatnam neighbourhood, located at the outskirts of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, during the early morning of 7 May 2020. The resulting vapour cloud spread over a radius of around 3km, affecting the nearby areas and villages. As per the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the death toll was 11, and more than 1,000 people became sick after being exposed to the gas.
