The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority or VUDA was the urban planning agency of Visakhapatnam, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1978, vide an act of the State Assembly of Andhra Pradesh. Its jurisdiction was expanded in 2018 by merging it with the surrounding mandals to form Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority. [1]

Jurisdiction

Under the jurisdiction of VUDA, the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region (VMR), comprises, Visakhapatnam and the districts of Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam , Anakapalli and Vizianagaram. It is spread over an area of 5,573 km2 (2,152 sq mi) and has a population of 53.4 lakhs . [2] Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam were merged in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). [3]

Visakhapatnam Metro is a planned rapid transit system for the city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India. The system is proposed to reduce traffic congestion as well as providing a modern and efficient public transport system in the city which became the largest city and the main hub for economic activity of Andhra Pradesh after the state's bifurcation. It will be the only Indian city which will have a combination of both metro and tram. Once constructed it will be the world's largest metro prepared in a PPP model. Initially proposed for Metro Rail alignment for a length of 42.55 km in the city. Now, Government have planned to expand the Metro Rail system to cover more routes in the city as well as in the VMRDA area.

Amaravati Metropolitan Region Development Authority

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, Amaravati, ACT No. 27 of 2020. It was notified on 31 July 2020 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as per The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Repeal Act, 2020, it replaced the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014.The authority has a jurisdictional area of 8,352.69 km2 ,[7] covering the districts of Guntur, NTR, Krishna, Palnadu, Bapatla

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is the civic body that governs the city of Visakhapatnam, largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Its jurisdiction encompasses an area of 681.96 km2 (263.31 sq mi). It is also part of the planning body of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Established in the year 1979, the executive power of the GVMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service officer appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The position is held by G. Lakshmisha. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari (YSRCP) was elected as the Mayor and Jiyyani Sridhar (YSRCP) as the Deputy Mayor by the newly elected general body in March 2021. In January 2021, the number of wards were increased to 98 from 81 earlier.

City Central Park also known as is an urban park in the city of Visakhapatnam. The park is located at the heart of the city. It covers an area of 22 acres (8.9 ha) and was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu on 15 September 2016. This park has the first musical fountain of Andhra Pradesh state. It comes under the maintenance and operated by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is the urban planning agency of Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed by expanding the existing Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA). The VMRDA administers the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of 7,328.86 km2 (2,829.69 sq mi) and covers the districts of Visakhapatnam,Vizianagaram and Anakapalli. It was set up for the purposes of planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned development of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region. It coordinates the development activities of the municipal corporations, municipalities and other local authorities.

Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRC) is a State Public Sector company that operates Visakhapatnam Metro and Vijayawada Metro. At first AMRC was incorporated as Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation - a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of the Vijayawada Metro Rail project, later Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project was added to the list. It was first proposed as a Mass Rapid Transit System in VGTM UDA which was later changed into AMRDA.

The Srikakulam Urban Development Authority is an urban planning agency in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was constituted on 12 February 2019, under Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016 with the headquarters located at Srikakulam.

Visakhapatnam Administration started officially in the year in the year of 1803. later Visakhapatnam Municipality was formed 1861. after years its converted as Municipal Corporation, present day its called as Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. GVMC Total area is 681 km2 (263 sq mi) with 98 Ward's and 8 Zones. GVMC Has ruled by a Mayor and Mayor is elected by corporaters Who are representative of their Wards.
