Tenneti Park also known as (Vuda Tenneti Park) is an urban park in the city of Visakhapatnam. It is a coastal park in the city known for its scenery and recreational amenities. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the park has views of the sea with surrounding coastline and the cityscape. Named after Mr. Tenneti Viswanadham, a freedom fighter and social reformer, [1] the park features greenery, gardens and walking paths. [2] Additionally, Tenneti Park is a destination for outdoor activities such as picnics, family outings, and photography, attracting both locals and tourists alike. [1] Over the years, Tenneti Park has been featured in several films across different genres. [3] Post Cyclone Hudhud an alumni from GITAM university came forward and donated money for the face-lift of the park. [4]

A maritime event involving the Bangladeshi merchant vessel MV Maa, which ran aground at Tenneti Park beach. The incident occurred during Cyclone Nivar in October 2020, causing the vessel to become stranded on the shore. MV Maa, measuring 80 meters in length, faced challenges in refloating, prompting various stakeholders to undertake salvage operations and assess the situation. Following the grounding, efforts were made to assess the vessel's condition and devise a plan to refloat the ship again. However, despite these efforts, the ship remained stranded till date. [5]

In December 2021, the then Tourism Minister announced plans to convert the ship into a floating restaurant. [6] However, it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of permissions from concerned departments have temporarily halted the project. According to the Regional Director of the Tourism Department, essential infrastructure such as an approach road from the temple at Tenneti Park to the ship, supporting structures for the vessel, and basic amenities including washrooms and change rooms on the beach are required. Given proximity to the coast, they planned it to be eco-friendly. [7] Plans also include the use of battery-operated vehicles to transport visitors, particularly elderly persons, senior citizens, and children, from the beach area to the ship. The ship's open deck may serve as a venue for celebrations, while the interior can house the restaurant. MV Maa has become an attraction for visitors, including pre-marriage photoshoots, social media influencers, and filmmakers. [8]

Riverdance was a roll-on/roll-off ferry in service with Seatruck Ferries on the Irish Sea. On 31 January 2008 she was hit by a wave that caused her cargo to shift and she beached at Blackpool, very close to the boundary with Cleveleys. Large amounts of the ship's cargo was spilled overboard after the ship ran aground, resulting in much of it being salvaged by members of the public. Attempts to refloat her failed, and she was scrapped on site during 2008.

Visakhapatnam is a major metropolitan city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and it holds the distinction of being the largest city in the state. The rich history of Visakhapatnam dates back over 2,500 years, with its present name potentially given by the Eastern Chalukyas king to their family deity Visakha in 1010 CE. Visakhapatnam was once part of the Kalinga Kingdom around 260 BC before coming under the influence of the Maurya Empire. During this period, Buddhism flourished, leading to the construction of significant monuments between the 2nd century BCE and the 2nd century CE. The city's documented existence begins in 1068 CE, under the rule of King Vishakhavarman. In the 7th century, Visakhapatnam witnessed the conquest of the Eastern Chalukyas, and by the 14th century, it became part of the Reddi Kingdom. The era of European colonization commenced in 1630 with the Dutch, followed by the British taking control in 1757 after a brief interlude of French influence. The city's industrial growth saw a transformative phase with the inauguration of Visakhapatnam Port operations on December 19, 1933, firmly establishing it as a major industrial centre.

Transport in Visakhapatnam is the network of roads, railways, rapid transit system in the largest city of Andhra Pradesh. The city of Visakhapatnam also serves as the central hub of transport and logistics on the East coast of India and hence it is called as City Of Destiny.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Children's Arena</span>

The Children's Arena is a children's world in Visakhapatnam, India and the only one of its type in Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Siripuram which is also known as the "heart of the city" It has a seating capacity of 1000. The Auditorium is used to conduct various functions, such as birthday parties, music shows, school celebrations and cultural activities related to children. The multipurpose theatre is designed to showcase movies predominantly in English, Telugu and Hindi.

Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election on Telugu Desam Party ticket from Visakhapatnam South constituency in Visakhapatnam district. He defeated Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao of YSR Congress Party by a margin of 3,729 votes. He later resigned from TDP and shifted to YSR Congress party and is nominated to contest from the same seat representing YSRCP in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election.

Mathukumilli Sribharat is an Indian educationist and politician who is member of 18th Lok Sabha. He also serves as the President of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a private deemed university located in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He is also the founder of Hyderabad-based Kautilya School of Public Policy that offers masters and doctoral programs in public policy.
