Anisul Islam Mahmud (born 20 December 1947) [1] is the former Minister of Environment and Forest and Minister of Water Resources in the Cabinet of Bangladesh in the Third Hasina ministry [2] [3] from 2014 to 2019. He previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from July 1985 to December 1990 under President Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Mahmud was educated at the University of Dhaka (BA Economics, 1969), Quaide Azam University in Karachi (MSc Economics) and the University of Essex (MA Economics, 1972). He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1975. He was a Lecturer of Economics at the University of Dhaka from 1969 to 1970, a Senior Research Associate in Economics at the University of East Anglia from 1972 to 1973, and lecturer of economics at the University of Hertfordshire from 1973 to 1977. He became the Member of Parliament for Chittagong-5 in 1979, and was re-elected in 1986 and 1988. He ran again in the June 1996 general election, but lost to the incumbent, Syed Wahidul Alam. He became the MP for Chittagong-5 in 2008, was elected unopposed to Chittagong-5 in 2014, and was re-elected in 2018 and 2024. [5]
Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. Shahabuddin Ahmed was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001, and the Chief Justice of Bangladesh from 1990 to 1995. He previously served as the acting president during 1990–91 when Hussain Muhammad Ershad resigned from the post. He headed a caretaker government and held a general election in February 1991.

He was elected a member of Jatiya Sangsad a total of seven times. He is a former Minister of Water Resources, Minister of Communications as Communications Transport and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resource.

Ghulam Muhammed Quader, better known as GM Quader, is a Bangladeshi politician and the 2nd chairperson of Jatiya Party. He is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member from the Lalmonirhat-3 constituency. He served as the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism from 2009 to 2014.

Md Korban Ali was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former deputy Speaker of Parliament.
Mir Shawkat Ali, Bir Uttom was a general in Bangladesh Army and also a politician of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He was a freedom fighter during Bangladesh liberation war and a Sector Commander of the Mukti Bahini. He was the state minister of Food, and cabinet minister of Labour and Manpower. He was a war hero and awarded the Bir Uttom for his contribution during Bangladesh liberation war.
Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu was a Bangladeshi politician of the Jatiya Party and served as the Secretary General for two terms. He was a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chittagong-9 constituency at the 10th Jatiya Sangsad and the Chittagong-6 constituency at the 4th Jatiya Sangsad. He served as the Cabinet Minister for Energy during Ershad's regime in the 1980s. He was appointed an advisor to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in November 2013.
