Ann Lynch (born December 27,1964) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 30,which includes portions of Olmsted and Wabasha counties in the southeastern part of the state. As a Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 2006,but was unseated by Republican Carla Nelson in the 2010 general election. [1] [2]
Lynch was a member of the Senate's Capital Investment Committee,the Health,Housing and Family Security Committee,and the Higher Education Committee. She also served on the Finance subcommittees for the Health and Human Services Budget Division (of which she was vice chair),and for the Higher Education Budget and Policy Division. [3] Her special legislative concerns included health care,education,and transportation. [1] She authored a bill in 2007 during a special senate meeting to provide flood disaster relief for the floods of August 2007. [4] In 2010,she later chief authored two bills relating to flood disaster relief,Wadena tornado disaster relief,and provided cash flow and budget reserve adjustments. [5]
Lynch graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in Cedar Rapids,Iowa,then went on to Hamline University in Saint Paul,where she earned her B.A. in Economics. Prior to being elected to the Senate,she served on the Rochester School Board from 2002 to 2006. She and her husband,Mike,live in Rochester,and are the parents of two children. [6]
In 1996,Lynch co-authored the book Visualizing Forest Change. The book was published by the United States Forest Service,Department of Agriculture. The book discusses issues relating to how the U.S. government forest management,including the protection of trees from diseases and pests. [7]
James Murray Vickerman was an American politician from Minnesota who served as Minnesota State Senator,first elected in 1986 in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's "firestorm" that swept southwestern Minnesota during the height of the 1980s Midwestern farm crisis. In that election,he unseated incumbent Senator Doran Isackson,winning by a substantial margin. He was re-elected in 1990,1992,1996,2000,2002 and 2006. On February 22,2010,he announced that he would not seek an eighth term,noting that he was doing so "with the satisfaction that when it's done right,our government can and does serve people." His term officially ended on January 3,2011.
Patricia "Pat" Pariseau was an American nurse,politician,and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 36,which includes portions of Dakota,Goodhue,Scott and Washington counties in the southern Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Republican,she was first elected to the Senate in a 1988 special election held after the resignation of Senator Darril Wegscheid. She was re-elected in 1990,1992,1996,2000,2002 and 2006. Prior to the 1992 legislative redistricting,she represented the old District 37. On February 22,2010,she announced that she would not seek an eighth term.
Gen Olson is a retired teacher and Republican politician who is a former member of the Minnesota Senate representing portions of Hennepin and Wright counties in the western Twin Cities metropolitan area. She was the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota in the 1998 Minnesota gubernatorial election and also unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination in he 1994 United States Senate election in Minnesota.
Linda Lee Berglin is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 61,which includes portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,which is in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 1980,and was re-elected in each election until she resigned on August 15,2011,to take a position with Hennepin County. Prior to the 1982 and 1992 redistricting,the area was known as District 59 and District 60,respectively.
Linda Higgins is a Minnesota politician who represented the second district of Hennepin County as county commissioner from late 2012 to January 2019. Higgins is a former member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 58,which included portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,which is in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 1996,and was re-elected in 2000,2002,2006 and 2010. She served as a majority whip from 2001 to 2006. In the fall of 2011,she announced that she would not seek reelection after the current term ended in 2012. However,when Hennepin County District 2 Commissioner Mark Stenglein announced in June 2012 that he would resign,Higgins decided to run for that position. On May 20,2012,she was endorsed by the DFL party for the position,and won the election in November. In 2014,she ran unopposed and was reelected. She served as the Vice-Chair of the County Board,and Chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. She retired from the county board in January 2019.

Linda J. Scheid was a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 46,which includes portions of the northwestern suburbs of Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metro area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 1996,and was re-elected in 2000,2002,2006 and 2010. Prior to the 2002 redistricting,the area was known as District 47. She died of cancer on June 15,2011. Her seat was won in special election on October 18,2011 by Senator Chris Eaton.

Mathis was the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 1st congressional district in 2022,losing the general election to incumbent Republican Ashley Hinson.
