Annapurna College of Film and Media is a Film School based in Hyderabad, India. It's India's first private, non-profit media school. The institute was founded by the Akkineni family, including Nagarjuna and Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

Campus

ACFM is on the grounds of an Annapurna Studio. Spread across 22 Acres, Annapurna Studios showcases itself as a technically advanced and integrated film & media hub.

Academics

On 20 June 2012, Annapurna College of Film and Media (AISFM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, to provide India's first government-recognized, full-time degree courses in filmmaking. The MoU is for a period of four years. [1]

Acting Course

ACFM holds two six-month acting courses every year.

International collaborations

Northwestern University

Annapurna College of Film and Media (ACFM) and Northwestern University's School of Communication recently completed the first Indian Cinema Seminar - a student and cultural exchange program conducted in Hyderabad, India. As part of this activity, 27 students and faculty from the Northwestern University's School of Communication campuses at Evanston (USA) and Doha (Qatar) spent a week at ACFM in Hyderabad. The seminar began with site visits to important radio and TV stations and film production studios, and completed with a 48-hour film making challenge. Five films were made collaboratively by Northwestern and AISFM students. [2]

Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute, formerly known as the Jyoti Chitraban Film and Television Institute, is the only government-owned film institute in northeastern India located at Sila, Changsari in Assam. It was named after Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, the first Assamese film director and producer. The Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio was established in the year of 1961 by the Government of Assam. The Film Institute was set up at the same Studio premises using the same infrastructure in the year 1999.

<i>Manam</i> (film) 2014 film written and directed by Vikram Kumar

Manam (transl. We) is a 2014 Indian Telugu-language fantasy drama film written and directed by Vikram Kumar, and produced by the Akkineni Family under the Annapurna Studios banner. The film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Shriya Saran and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The film is set in various time periods, over the course of a hundred years up until 2013, and deals with the concepts of rebirth and eternal love. The plot features a wealthy businessman, Nageswara Rao (Nagarjuna), attempting to bring a young couple together resembling his deceased parents and the elderly Chaitanya's attempts to bring the businessman and a doctor together. They resemble Chaitanya's deceased parents, who died because of a mistake committed by him in his childhood.

<i>Oka Laila Kosam</i> 2014 Telugu film written and directed by Vijay Kumar Konda

Oka Laila Kosam is a 2014 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Vijay Kumar Konda. Produced by Nagarjuna on his home banner Annapurna Studios, the film features Naga Chaitanya and Pooja Hegde. Anoop Rubens composed the music for this film while I. Andrew and Praveen Pudi handled the cinematography and editing departments respectively. The film released worldwide on 17 October 2014. This film marked the Telugu debut of Pooja Hegde.

<i>Nirmala Convent</i> 2016 film

Nirmala Convent is a 2016 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by G. Naga Koteswara Rao, and produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna and Nimmagadda Prasad on Annapurna Studios and Matrix Team Works. The film features Roshan Meka and Shriya Sharma in their debut in lead roles while Nagarjuna appears as himself in a crucial role. It has music composed by Roshan Saluri.

<i>Vidyardhi</i> Indian movie

Vidyardhi is a 2004 Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by Balachari, who worked as an assistant director for S. Shankar and Bhagyaraj. The film stars newcomer Ramesh and Aditi Agarwal in the lead roles, with Prakash Raj and Rahul Dev in pivotal roles.

<i>Shaakuntalam</i> Upcoming film by Gunasekhar

Shaakuntalam is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language historical drama film written and directed by Gunasekhar. It is produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations. Based on a popular play Abhignyana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa, the film features Samantha in the titular role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the king of Puru dynasty along with Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla in supporting roles.
