Anthony Koura (born 6 May 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker. Born in France, he played for the Burkina Faso national team.

Club career

On 9 June 2011, after featuring with the Le Mans's reserve team in the Championnat de France Amateur for two straight seasons, Koura signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal. [1] [2] He was subsequently promoted to the senior team permanently for the 2011–12 season and was assigned the number 11 shirt. He made his professional debut on 26 August 2011 appearing as a substitute in a 1–0 league defeat to Châteauroux. [3]

In early July 2016, Koura signed a three-year contract with newly promoted Ligue 1 club AS Nancy. [4]

In January 2019, he moved to FC Lausanne-Sport. [5]

International career

Koura is a French youth international at various levels. [6] With the under-17 team, Koura played at the 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. [7]

Koura is of Burkinabé descent, and was called up several times to the Burkina Faso national team. [8] He made his debut for Burkina Faso in a 2–0 friendly loss to Morocco on 24 March 2017. [9] [10]

The 2011–12 Ligue 1 season was the 74th since its establishment. Lille were the defending champions. The league schedule was announced on 31 March 2011 and the fixtures were determined on 10 June. The season began on 6 August 2011 and ended on 20 May 2012. The winter break was in effect from 22 December 2011 to 14 January 2012.

The 2011–12 Coupe de la Ligue was the 18th edition of the French league cup competition. The defending champions were Marseille, who defeated Montpellier 1–0 in the 2010–11 edition of the final. The competition was organized by the Ligue de Football Professionnel and open to the 42 professional clubs in France that are managed by the organization. The final was contested on 14 April 2012 at the Stade de France. The winner of the competition will qualify for the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League and be inserted into the third qualifying round.

The 2011–12 season was AS Monaco FC's first season back in Ligue 2 since relegation from Ligue 1 in 2011. Marco Simone took over as coach of AS Monaco in September 2011 following the sacking of Laurent Banide. They finished the season in eighth place having struggled in the relegation zone for the majority of the season. They also participated in the Coupe de France where they were eliminated at the Round of 64 stage by Angers, and the Coupe de la Ligue which they were knocked out of in the first round by Sedan.
