Aphelele Onke Okuhle Fassi (born 23 January 1998) is a South African professional rugby union player for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship and the Currie Cup. [1] His regular position is wing or fullback.

Club career

His professional career began in 2018 with the Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup. [2] [3] He was praised for his speed and technique and won the championship in his first season. [4]

International career

In June 2021, Aphelele Fassi was selected for the first time with the Springboks by Jacques Nienaber to prepare for the British Lions' tour of South Africa. [5] He gets his first cap on July 2, 2021 against Georgia in Pretoria. [6] [7] This is his first international try. [8] Later that year, he was selected to play in the Rugby Championship and played a match against Argentina, scoring another try. [9] After this promising first international season, he is elected best young South African player for the year 2021. [10]

John Philip Botha, known as by nickname Bakkies, is a South African former professional rugby union player who played as a lock. He was a member of the South Africa team that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France in addition to winning two Tri Nations titles in 2004 and 2009. Eben Etzebeth is a South African professional rugby union player who currently plays for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship and the South Africa national rugby team. He made his international debut for the Springboks in 2012 and has since won 128 caps making him the Springboks' most capped player. His regular playing position is as a loosehead lock. He is often considered one of the best locks to have ever played for South Africa.

Pieter Willem Gabriel Rossouw is a South African former professional rugby player and current coach. Rossouw played wing for Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers in the Super Rugby competition. He played a total of 43 times for the Springboks, making him one of the most capped Springbok wingers after South Africa's readmission to international rugby. He was also one of South Africa's most prolific try-scoring wingers, post-isolation, with only Breyton Paulse(26) and Bryan Habana(53) scoring more tries. He is 7th on the all-time try-scoring list for the Springboks. Rossouw is currently the backline coach of the Bulls in Super rugby and the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup. He was known as "Slaptjips", apparently because the sight of his running legs was like potato chips slapping together. Dean Bradley Hall is a South African former professional rugby player. He played on the wing. He played the majority of his career for the Johannesburg based teams, the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup and the Cats in Super Rugby. Later in his career he moved to Durban and played for the Sharks in the Currie Cup, the Natal Wildebeest in the Vodacom Cup and the Sharks in Super Rugby. He was also capped thirteen times for the Springboks and scored four test tries. His career was hampered with injury and he never reached his full potential. He was quite large for a wing, but in the wake of Jonah Lomu's sensation at the 1995 Rugby World Cup, it was hoped that Dean Hall would become the Springbok's massive wing.

Marthinus "Tinus" Linee was a South African rugby player. Linee played predominantly at centre. He played all his provincial rugby for Western Province. He represented Western Province and the Stormers in Super Rugby. He played nine tour games for the Springboks between 1993 and 1994, but never played in a test for South Africa.

Jean-Luc du Preez (born 5 August 1995 is a South African rugby union player for Sale Sharks in the English Premiership. He made his debut for South Africa in 2016 and his regular position is flanker, although he also plays at lock and number eight.

Makazole Drex Mapimpi is a South African professional rugby union player for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship and South Africa national team. He usually plays as a winger and centre. He was part of the winning Springboks of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He became the first South African to score a try in a World Cup Final.

S'busiso Romeo Nkosi is a South African professional rugby union player for the South Africa national team and the Free State Cheetahs in Currie Cup. His regular position is winger.

Jacques Nienaber is a South African rugby union coach who is currently the senior coach at Leinster. He led South Africa to their 4th World Cup title in 2023.

Jordan Hendrikse is a South African rugby union player for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship, the Hollywood Bets Sharks in the Currie Cup and South Africa internationally. His regular position is fly-half. He is Jaden Hendrikse's brother.

Henco van Wyk is a South African rugby union player for the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup. His regular position is outside centre. He was selected for the SA Schools Team in 2019.
