The World Archery Federation is the governing body of the sport of archery. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is composed of 156 national federations and other archery associations, and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
Brady Ellison is an American archer who competes in recurve archery. He holds the record for the longest continuous period as the world number-one-ranked men's recurve archer, from August 2011 to April 2013. He earned his nickname "The Prospector" during the 2015 world championships due to his proclivity for 'finding gold'.
Taylor Worth is an Australian archer competing in recurve events. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the men's team event, a gold medal at the United States Open and at the 2008 World Youth Archery Championships in the under-18 men's team recurve event. Worth represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's Individual competition, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio won a bronze medal alongside Alec Potts and Ryan Tyack in the men's team archery. He represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Ryan Tyack is an Australian archer competing in men's recurve events at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He earned a gold medal at the 2006 Junior World Outdoor Target Championships in the male recurve cadet event. He also won a gold at the 2008 World Youth Archery Championships in the men's under-18 event. He was named to the Australian archery shadow Olympic squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the individual competition at the 2014 World Indoor Archery Championships.
Kim Woo-jin is a South Korean archer specializing in recurve archery. He first held the world number one ranking ranking in 2011. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he set a world record in men's individual recurve archery and received a gold medal as a member of the South Korean men's archery team. He is a three-time world champion in the men's individual recurve event at the World Archery Championships.
Marcus Vinicius Carvalho Lopes D'Almeida, known as Marcus D'Almeida, is a Brazilian athlete who competes in recurve archery. World runner-up in 2021. In February 2023, he became the first Brazilian to lead the world archery ranking in his category, the recurve bow.
Patrick Huston is a British two-time Olympian archer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He captured three world championship titles under the youth level, and eventually competed as a member of the two person archery squad of Team GB at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio, losing the first round match to the eventual champion Ku Bon-chan of South Korea. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics his best result was a men's team 5th. Huston currently lives near Lilleshall National Sporting Centre and trained full-time under senior national coach Richard Priestman for Archery UK, while remaining a loyal founding member of East Belfast Archery Club. Riau Ega Agata Salsabilla is an Indonesian recurve archer. He represented Indonesia at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Mete Gazoz is a Turkish recurve archer. He won the gold medal in the men's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also represented Turkey at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the 2023 World Archery Championships held in Berlin, Mete Gazoz emerged victorious, claiming the prestigious Individual title. In an intense final, he triumphed over the skilled Canadian archer Eric Peters, securing his place as the first Turkish archer to achieve the esteemed recurve gold medal in a World Championship.

There are 128 qualifying places available for archery at the 2020 Summer Olympics: 64 for men and 64 for women. The qualification standards were released by World Archery in March 2018. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tomomi Sugimoto is a Japanese archer competing in women's recurve events. At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, she won the gold medal in the mixed team recurve event and the bronze medal in the women's team recurve event.
Tang Chih-chun is a Taiwanese archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the gold medal in the men's team recurve event, alongside Luo Wei-min and Wei Chun-heng, at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Rahmat Erwin Abdullah is an Indonesian weightlifter. He is a two-time gold medalist in the men's 73 kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships. Lisa Barbelin is a French archer, who won the recurve events at the 2021 European Archery Championships, and 2022 European Indoor Archery Championships. She has previously won multiple medals at the World Youth Archery Championships, and won bronze medals in events at the 2019 and 2022 Archery World Cups. In June 2021 she was the world's number one ranked competitor. Barbelin competed in the women's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
