School choice is a term for education options that allow students and families to select alternatives to public schools. It is the subject of fierce debate in various state legislatures across the United States.
Albuquerque Academy, known locally as simply the Academy, is an independent, co-educational day school for grades 6-12 located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The school is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and the New Mexico State Department of Education, and is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
Chicago Public Schools (CPS), officially classified as City of Chicago School District #299 for funding and districting reasons, in Chicago, Illinois, is the fourth-largest school district in the United States, after New York, Los Angeles, and Miami-Dade County. For the 2020–21 school year, CPS reported overseeing 638 schools, including 476 elementary schools and 162 high schools; of which 513 were district-run, 115 were charter schools, 9 were contract schools and 1 was a SAFE school. The district serves 340,658 students. Chicago Public School students attend a particular school based on their area of residence, except for charter, magnet, and selective enrollment schools.

Gilmour Academy is an independent, Catholic, coeducational, college-preparatory day and boarding school in the Cleveland suburb of Gates Mills, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1946 by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Gilmour Academy has three divisions, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School. In the Lower School, Gilmour offers a Montessori preschool program for 18 months - PreK. The Lower School also houses the children in kindergarten through Grade 6. Gilmour's Middle School holds 7th and 8th grades, and, as of the 2021-2022 school year, has 65 students. At nearly 500 students, Gilmour's Upper School has grades 9-12. A boarding program is available to students in grades 9–12.
Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is the largest school district of Tucson, Arizona, in terms of enrollment. Dr. Gabriel Trujillo is the superintendent, appointed on September 12, 2017, by the Governing Board. As of 2016, TUSD had more than 47,670 students. As of Fall 2012, according to Superintendent John Pedicone, TUSD had 50,000 students. District enrollment has declined over the last 10 years and TUSD lost 1,700 to 2,000 students per year for the two or three years prior to 2012.
Great Hearts Academies is a non-profit charter school management organization that operates a network of elementary, middle, and high schools in the Phoenix, Arizona Metropolitan area and in San Antonio, Ft. Worth, and Irving, Texas. In fall 2023, Great Hearts will open a new academy in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Great Hearts will open a new academy in Jacksonville, Florida in fall 2024.
The Vanguard School (TVS) is a public charter school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. Founded as the Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy (CMCA) in 1995, it is chartered with the Harrison School District 2. Originally founded as a K–6 charter school, the school expanded to a K–12 school by 2006, and it graduated its first class of seniors in 2010.
Dysart Schools is a school district in Maricopa County, Arizona. It has 24,000 pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students in the Northwest Phoenix Metropolitan area. The district encompasses 140 square miles (360 km2), serving parts of El Mirage, Glendale, Surprise, Youngtown, and Maricopa County. The district is home to twenty K-8 schools, four comprehensive high schools, and one alternative program. The district has AdvancED Accreditation, the NCA Model School District Award, NSBA Technology Spotlight Award, and is home to a national elementary school principal of the year and two Arizona teachers of the year.
Friendship Collegiate Academy Public Charter School is a public high school in Washington, D.C. Established in 2000, the school serves students in grades 9–12 and is part of the Friendship Public Charter School network.

Veritas Preparatory Academy is a charter school in Phoenix, Arizona centered around classical education and is a member of the Great Hearts Academies charter network.
Kingman Academy of Learning is a public charter school in Kingman, Arizona for preschool grades through high school. It consists of four campuses with a total enrollment of approximately 1,500 students. It is a member of the Arizona Interscholastic Association. The school was founded in 1995 for preschool to 6th grade. It expanded to include high school with its initial 9th grade class in 2001.
Salt River High School (SRHS) was a high school on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale, Arizona. It was operated by that tribe's Education Department along with an early education/Head Start facility, elementary school, alternative school and higher education department. The high school opened in August 2004 with an award-winning campus and grounds. Salt River High School was located on a federally recognized Native American reservation, which provided students and families opportunities to learn and partake in the rich histories and contemporary experiences of both the O'Odham (Pima) and Piipaash (Maricopa) people who reside within and/or are members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Salt River High School was a member of the Canyon Athletic Association. This school closed its doors sometime in 2021.
Arizona State University, Polytechnic High School is a public charter University-preparatory school, located in Mesa, Arizona, United States. The Polytechnic High School and STEM Academy is located on the Arizona State University Polytechnic campus next to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
