Pierre-Armand Malitourne (19 July 1796 – 19 April 1866) was a 19th-century French journalist, literary critic and writer.

Biography

After he studied at the college of Alençon, he moved to Paris in 1816. In 1819, he obtained a prize from the Académie française for his book Éloge de Lesage and made his debut at La Quotidienne where he published articles on a regular basis. Under the Ministry Martignac, he participated to Le Messager des Chambres then, after the July Revolution of 1830, became editor at La Charte de 1830 . He also collaborated to the Moniteur parisien, the Messager, the Constitutionnel, the Nouvelles à la main  (fr ) (1841), the Revue de Paris and L'Artiste .

The Académie française is the pre-eminent French council for matters pertaining to the French language. The Académie was officially established in 1635 by Cardinal Richelieu, the chief minister to King Louis XIII. Suppressed in 1793 during the French Revolution, it was restored as a division of the Institut de France in 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte. It is the oldest of the five académies of the institute.
