Army School of Logistics is located at Clappenburg, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. Established on 9 May 2011, to provide academic and training programs in logistics science and management science for both Commissioned Officer and Non Commissioned Officers.

The Sri Lanka Military Academy, commonly known simply as Diyatalawa, is the oldest military academy in Sri Lanka, and trains commissioned officers for the Sri Lanka Army. It is located in the garrison town of Diyatalawa in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. It has capacity to train more than 300 cadets.
Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, is the naval academy of the Sri Lanka Navy, and is located within SLN Dockyard, Trincomalee. It received university status in 2001 under the leadership of Commodore SR Samaratunga.
The Air Force Academy (AFA) is the Sri Lanka Air Force's training and education academy which provides initial training to all SLAF personnel who are preparing to be commissioned officers. AFA also provides initial training to Officer Cadets of the general duties pilot branch. The Air Force Academy is based at SLAF China Bay in Trincomalee. The Commandant of the academy is an officer of the rank of Air Commodore.
General Deshamanya Joseph Everard Denis Perera, VSV, FCMI was a senior Sri Lanka Army general who served as Commander of the Sri Lankan Army from 1977 to 1981. He was also the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Australia, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Ceylon Tobacco Company and Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. He envisioned for a women's corps in the army which resulted in the creation of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps in 1979.

G. D. H. Kamal Gunaratne, WWV, RWP, RSP, USP is a retired Sri Lankan army general. He is the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management. A retired career officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Gunaratne had served as the former Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni, general officer commanding (GOC), 53 Division and was a former Deputy Ambassador to Brazil. He was the GOC of the 53 Division which killed the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran at Nandikadal, Mullaitivu.

Rear Admiral (Retired) Vijitha Bandara Meddegoda, USP, BA, MBA,[Australia was a senior logistics Officer in the Sri Lanka Navy. He was the former Director General of Sri Lanka Navy. He was also the former Director Naval (Logistics), Director Naval, Director Naval (Budget), Director Naval. Further, he hold many key appointments during his career. Rear Admiral Vijitha Meddegoda had retired from his service w.e.f 4 December 2020.
The Army War College (AWC) is a defence service training institution of the Sri Lanka Army located in Buttala, Monaragala District, Uva Province. The AWC provids command and staff courses for mid career commissioned officers of Sri Lanka Army as well as to limited number of officers from Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force and officers of various allied forces.

The Volunteer Force Training School Diyatalawa is the primary training facility for the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. Traditionally, training of the Ceylon Defence Force took place at Diyatalawa Garrison with the annual training camp becoming a regular fixture. This practice continued after the formation of the Ceylon Army in 1949, with the CDF camp been renamed as the Volunteer Force Training Centre and tasked with the training of personal of the Ceylon Volunteer Force and Ceylon Cadet Corps. In 1988, with the re-designation of the National Cadet Corps, the Volunteer Force Training Centre was restructured Volunteer Force Training School with its own Commandant.
