Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, from London. The band primarily consists of four fictional members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs (drums). Their universe is presented in media such as music videos, interviews, comic strips and short cartoons. Gorillaz's music has featured collaborations with a wide range of featured artists, with Albarn as the only permanent musical contributor.

AIM is the fifth studio album by British rapper and singer M.I.A. It was released on 9 September 2016 by Interscope and Polydor Records. Prior to its release, M.I.A. claimed that it would be her final album. She worked on the composition and production of the album with a range of collaborators, including Blaqstarr, Diplo, and Skrillex. The album was recorded in various countries, including Jamaica and India, and includes vocal contributions from Dexta Daps and Zayn. As with M.I.A.'s earlier releases, the album mixes Eastern and Western musical influences. Lyrically, several tracks on the album contain themes of borders and refugees.
"Million Dollar Loan" is a song by American rock band Death Cab for Cutie. It was released on October 10, 2016, as the first song in the Dave Eggers-headed project 30 Days, 30 Songs. Like the other songs in the project, the song lyrically takes aim at Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president in the country's 2016 election. The project aimed to release one song every day from October 10 until Election Day, all of which are, according to its website, "written and recorded by musicians for a Trump-free America." "Ye vs. the People" is a song by American rapper Kanye West. It stars a guest appearance from fellow rapper T.I., with him being credited as the People. The song was solely produced by West, who co-wrote it with T.I., and due to the work of the Four Tops being sampled, Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland were credited as songwriters. Following a conversation West had about his support of Donald Trump with T.I. in the studio, the rappers recorded the song in April 2018. On April 27, 2018, it premiered via Power 106. The song was released for digital download and streaming as a standalone single by GOOD Music and Def Jam three days later. T.I. stated in July 2018 that he never believed West would release the song. A hip hop track, it contains a sample of the Four Tops' "7 Rooms of Gloom".
