Ashley Anumba (born 11 June 1999) is a track and field athlete who competes in the discus. [2] Born in the United States, she represents Nigeria internationally.
Anumba attended Los Osos High School in the United States, in the city of Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California's Inland Empire. She was named the All-Inland Valley Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2017 and that year became the California state Discus champion. [3] In 2018 she enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in Health and Societies with a concentration in Health Policy and Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2021. She then started at the University of Virginia School of Law. [4]
Anumba first represented Nigeria in the Discus at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, in which she finished fourth. [5]
In December 2022, she competed on Nigerian soil for the first time, winning the Discus event at the Nigerian National Sports Festival in Asaba, and in the process beating the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion, Chioma Onyekwere into second place. To do this she threw a personal best distance of 59.06m. [6]
In March 2023, she set a new personal best discus throw of 59.63m at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility. [7]
Anumba threw a Discus over 60m for the first time in 2023, throwing 60.97 at the Tucson Elite Classic. In June 2023, representing the University of Virginia, Anumba competed at the NCAA Championships held in Austin, Texas, winning a silver medal in the Discus. To achieve this, Anumba set a new personal best distance of 61.13m, it was also a new school record. [8]
In June 2023, at the Iron Woods Throw Classic, in Idaho, Anumba improved her personal best again, winning the event with a throw of 61.56m. [9]
In July 2024, she was officially named as part of the Nigerian team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. [10]
A dual-citizen of Nigeria and the United States, her father, Cyril Anumba died when she was ten years-old. Her mother, Ethel, is a principal. She has three siblings, including an older sister Michelle, who competed in track and field whilst at Duke University. [11]

DeAnna Marie Price, OLY is an American track and field athlete competing primarily in the hammer throw. Price's personal best in the hammer is 80.31 m (263 ft 5 in), the American record, set at the 2021 US Olympic trials. The throw ranked her as the #2 women's thrower in history.
Oluwatobiloba Ayomide "Tobi" Amusan is a Nigerian track and field athlete who specialises in the 100 metres hurdles and also competes as a sprinter. Amusan is the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds which she set at the 2022 women's 100 metres hurdles semi-final in Eugene, Oregon. She is the current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100 m hurdles, as well as the meet record holder in those two competitions. Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the 2022 World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9 m/s) in the semi-final, followed up by a 12.06 seconds (+2.5 m/s) in the final. She won back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100 m hurdles and is also a two-time African Games champion. She is also the current Diamond league champion in the 100 metres hurdles having won the final in 12.33 seconds (+1.8 m/s) achieving a winning streak in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Rudy Winkler is an American male track and field athlete who competes in the hammer throw. He is the NACAC area record holder and American record holder with a throw of 82.71 m (271 ft 4 in) for the hammer and holds a personal best of 23.32 m for the weight throw. He was the hammer national champion in 2016 and 2020, winning the 2016. and 2020 United States Olympic Trials.
Chioma Chukwujindu "CiCi" Onyekwere is a track and field athlete specializing in the discus throw. Born in the United States, she represents Nigeria. She has competed in the shotput and discus throw both on the collegiate and international levels. She holds the African and Nigerian record for the discus throw. Her personal best of 64.96 meters for the discus throw was achieved in 2023.
Maggie Ewen is an American shot putter. Maggie Ewen earned bronze medal when she threw the discus 59.00 m in Toronto at 2018 NACAC Championships, placed fourth in the shot put at 2019 World Athletics Championships and competed in the women's hammer throw at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. Ewen set collegiate outdoor records in shot put and hammer.
Chukwuebuka Cornnell Enekwechi is a track and field athlete, specializing in throwing events. Born in the United States, he competes internationally for Nigeria. He is the 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and reigning African Champion in the shot put. He is also the 2019 African Games Champion and the reigning Nigerian National Sports Festival Champion.
