Janata Dal (United) abbreviated as JD(U) is a centre-left Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Arunanchal Pradesh. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election, making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. The party operates on the ideologies of socialism, secularism and integral humanism.

Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Rajiv Pratap Rudy is an Indian politician, representing Bharatiya Janata Party, and a Member of Parliament representing Saran in Bihar, India. In November 2014, he was made Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Narendra Modi's government, a key ministry in view of Modi's slogan of 'Make in India' and associated attempts to make India a production hub. He also shared Parliamentary Affairs department jointly with another Minister of State, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. Rudy was a General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, a position relinquished soon after he joined the government. He also holds a commercial pilot's license. Rudy is in Limca Book of Records for being the only parliamentarian to fly a commercial aircraft having flown Airbus-320 and Indigo airlines.
The Lok Janshakti Party is a state political party mainly based in the state of Bihar, India. The party was formed in 2000 when Ram Vilas Paswan split from Janata Dal (United). The party has a considerable following amongst Dalits in Bihar. As of June 2021, Pashupati Kumar Paras is the national president of the party. The party is a member of the National Democratic Alliance.

He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was first a mayor in Bihar, and later the Minister of State for Rural Development in central cabinet in Delhi from 2014 to 2019.
