Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa Megahed (born 1961) is an Egyptian Vice admiral and the current commander of the Egyptian Navy. Before he assumed the office in December 2021, he served as chief of staff of the Navy. [1]
Megahed obtained his graduation in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in maritime studies and master's in military studies.
His previous assignments includes commander of the Southern Fleet, in addition to serving as commander of the naval bases stationed at the Port Said and the Red Sea. [2]
The Egyptian Armed Forces are the military forces of the Arab Republic of Egypt. They consist of the Egyptian Navy, Egyptian Air Force and Egyptian Air Defense Forces. Previously, there was a separate command for the Egyptian Land Forces on March 25, 1964, but it was officially abolished after the Six-Day War of 1967, so that the command of the land formations returned directly to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and the ground formations were divided to the forces east of the canal, under whose command the two armies and the military regions, in contrast to the rest of the forces, bodies, departments, and auxiliary agencies.

The Egyptian Navy, also known as the Egyptian Naval Force, is the maritime branch of the Egyptian Armed Forces. US shipbuilder Swiftships has built around 30 boats for the Egyptian Navy including mine hunters, survey vessels, and both steel and aluminium patrol boats.
The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces is a statutory body of between 20 and 25 senior officers of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and is headed by Field Marshal Abdel Fattah еl-Sisi and Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki. The council is convened only in cases of war or great internal emergencies.

Sobhy previously served as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces from August 2012 to March 2014. Admiral Muhammad ZakaullahNI(M) HI(M) SI(M) PP TI(M) LoM PGAT is a retired admiral in the Pakistan Navy, who was the 15th Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy. He was later replaced by Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
Mahmoud Ibrahim Mahmoud Hegazy is an Egyptian general who was the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces from 2014 to 2017. Hegazy graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in 1977, and served as the Chief of the Egyptian Military intelligence before his appointment as Chief of Staff by the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He is related to Sisi through the marriage of their respective children. Mahmoud Hegazy was replaced in 2017 by Mohammed Farid Hegazy in a shakeup of high level security personnel. No reason was given for the changes, but since 2013, Egypt has been fighting an ongoing Islamist insurgency that has killed of hundreds of policemen and soldiers. A week before the dismissal, sixteen policemen were killed during a police operation in the western desert of Giza province, and two high level security personnel for Giza were also dismissed. Hegazy was given a position of security advisor to the president. He is a member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces is the second-in-command of the Egyptian Armed Forces, following the minister of Defense and the president of Egypt. The Chief of the General Staff typically holds the second-highest military rank in the Armed Forces. Admiral Arthur Gerard McDonald, is a Royal Canadian Navy admiral who served as Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Forces from January 14, 2021, until February 24, 2021, when he voluntarily stepped aside due to an investigation by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service.
