Auburn High School is the only public high school in Auburn, New York, U.S., a city approximately 25 miles southwest of Syracuse in central New York.

Contents

As of the 2014-15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,238 students and 78.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.9:1. There were 447 students (36.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 78 (6.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch. [1]

Athletics

The school's mascot is the Auburn Maroons. [3] The school competes in Section III.

Varsity boys sports include football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, swimming, golf, tennis, cross country, bowling, and track. [3]

Varsity girls sports include golf, soccer, basketball, softball, swimming, cheerleading, field hockey, tennis, volleyball, cross country, bowling, lacrosse, and track. [3]

Home varsity football games are played at Holland Stadium, which is located at Auburn Junior High School on Franklin Street. Home varsity baseball games are played at Falcon Park, home of the Auburn Doubledays minor league baseball team, on North Division Street.

Frank Cosentino is a former Canadian football quarterback in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and a former head coach in University football. He played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts for ten years where he was a two-time Grey Cup champion, winning in 1963 and 1965. He was head coach of the Western Mustangs football team for five years where he led the team to two Vanier Cup wins in 1971 and 1974 before completing his coaching career with the York Yeomen. Cosentino was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Auburn High School Tigers are the athletic teams which represent Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama. Auburn High School's athletics program fields twenty-one varsity teams as a member of the large-school classification (7A) of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. The Tigers' school colors are royal blue and white and the school's mascot is a tiger named Samford.

Carlton Devan "Corky" Palmer was an American college baseball coach. He was head coach at Meridian Community College before serving as the head coach of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team for 12 seasons, retiring at the end of the 2009 season. In his final season, he brought the Golden Eagles to the College World Series, USM's first appearance there.

Lyman L. "Frim" Frimodig was an American athlete, college basketball coach and athletics administrator. He was the only athlete in the history of Michigan State University to receive ten varsity letters, four each in basketball and baseball and two in football. He held the school's single-game scoring record in basketball for 35 years. He was the head coach of the school's basketball team from 1920 to 1922 and subsequently served the school until 1960 as a professor of health and physical education, assistant athletics director, ticket sales manager, and athletics department business manager. He also served four years as the mayor of East Lansing, Michigan, from 1933 to 1937.

John H. Kobs was an American athlete and coach. He was the head baseball coach at Michigan State University from 1925 to 1963 where he compiled a career record of 576–377–16. He also coached men's basketball (1924–1926) and ice hockey (1925–1931) at Michigan State. He has been inducted into both the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Irvin C. "Whiz" Wisniewski was an American football and basketball player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Hillsdale College in 1951, tallying a mark of 2–6. Wisniewski was also the head basketball coach at Hillsdale from 1950 to 1952 and at the University of Delaware from 1954 to 1966, compiling a career college basketball record of 124–179.

Amy Dacey is an American Democratic politician. She was the CEO of the Democratic National Committee from January 2014 until her resignation in August 2016.

Elizabeth "Betty" Lacey was a long-time educator and community advocate. She served as a physical education instructor at Auburn High School from 1956 until 1981 where she was highly active in raising public awareness and support for women's athletics and lifetime recreational activities. During her tenure at the school, Lacey coached all of the girl's major athletic teams that included a record-setting four consecutive New York State girls field hockey Section III championship titles.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame is sports hall of fame in the U.S. state of Maine. According to the hall, it was founded in 1972 to serve two main purposes:

  1. "Appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes"
  2. "To formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction to the state of Maine"
