The Oslo Philharmonic (Oslo-Filharmonien) is a Norwegian symphony orchestra based in Oslo, Norway. The orchestra traces its roots to the Philharmonic Society founded in 1847 and the Christiania Musical Association co-founded by Edvard Grieg in 1871, and was established in its current form in 1919. Since 1977, it has had its home in the Oslo Concert Hall. The orchestra gives an average of sixty to seventy symphonic concerts annually, the majority of which are broadcast nationally on the radio. The Oslo Philharmonic entered into a close collaboration with the newly established national broadcasting company, the NRK, in 1934. Its current chief conductor is Klaus Mäkelä.
Arne Nordheim was a Norwegian composer. Nordheim received numerous awards for his compositions, and from 1982 lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. He was elected an honorary member of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1997. On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral.

Grex Vocalis is a Norwegian chamber choir, formed in 1971 by Carl Høgset. The repertoire spans from the renaissance to music by contemporary composers. The choir has been awarded the Norwegian Spellemannprisen prize for three of its thirteen albums and has won first prizes in national and international contests. In 1999 Grex Vocalis was awarded Il Gran Premio Città di Arezzo as the overall best choir in that year's contest. Grex Vocalis is primarily an a cappella choir, comprising ca. 35 singers, but performs on occasion also with soloists and orchestras. They have toured extensively in Europe, and also given a series of concerts in Japan and Cuba.

Paus is regarded as "one of the most celebrated classical composers of Norway" and "the leading Norwegian composer of his generation."

Ingrid Søfteland Neset is a Norwegian Classical flautist living in Stavanger (2017). She is the daughter of music teachers guitarist Terje Neset and pianist Anne Leni Søfteland Sæbø, and the sister of the vocalist Anna Søfteland Neset and jazz saxophonist Marius Søfteland Neset. She is known from numerous performances with orchestras like Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and in concerts and recordings with her older brother Marius Neset.
The Queen Sonja Singing Competition is a music competition for young singers taking place every two years in Oslo, Norway. The competition was arranged for the first time in 1988. Participants are selected by a screening committee on the basis of recordings submitted in the application process. 40 singers are invited to the competition in Oslo. The competition programme includes preliminary rounds, a semi-final and final, as well as masterclasses, career development sessions, concerts and social events.

Tuba Mirum is a concerto for tuba and orchestra by the Norwegian composer Marcus Paus. The work was commissioned by the Oslo Philharmonic and written specifically for the tubist August Schieldrop. It was first performed in 2021 by Schieldrop and the Oslo Philharmonic under their chief conductor Klaus Mäkelä, and the premiere was also broadcast by the Norwegian national broadcaster, NRK. The work has a duration of 20 minutes. The work is described by the Norwegian national encyclopedia Store norske leksikon as one of Paus' major works. The work was positively received by Norwegian classical music critics, and NRK's music critic Stein Eide described the work as a key new tuba concerto.
