Aurora Perrineau (born September 23, 1994) is an American actress and model. She is best known for starring as Shana Elmsford in Jem and the Holograms (2015), the live-action film adaptation of the 1980s animated television series Jem , Giselle Hammond in Blumhouse's Truth or Dare (2018), Tanya in Netflix's When They See Us (2019), and as C in HBO's Westworld (2022).

Perrineau was born to model Brittany Perrineau and actor Harold Perrineau. [1] [2] Perrineau is a model signed to Click Model Management, Inc. [3] In November 2017, Perrineau filed a police report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department accusing scriptwriter Murray Miller of sexual assault in 2012 when the actress was 17. [4] Girls creator-writer-actress Lena Dunham initially defended Miller, who was a writer for the series, but later retracted her statements. [4] On August 10, 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges against Miller. [5] [6]

In 2012, Perrineau starred in the direct-to-video film Air Collision . [7] In 2014, Perrineau appeared in episodes of Newsreaders [8] and in Chasing Life as Margo. [9] In April 2014, it was announced that Perrineau was cast in the role of Shana in Jem and the Holograms , based on the 1980s cartoon. [10] The film came under fire from fans of the cartoon, upset that the voice cast from decades earlier was not hired, with further complaints personally directed against the biracial Perrineau for not being black enough. [11] [12]

In July 2014, Perrineau was cast in Drake Doremus's film Equals . [13] [14] [15] [2] The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2015. [16] Perrineau had a small role in the film Passengers , released on December 21, 2016. [17] [18] In 2018, Perrineau was cast as Giselle Hammond in the Blumhouse supernatural thriller film Truth or Dare . [19]

Jem, also known as Jem and The Holograms, is an American animated musical television series that ran from 1985 to 1988. The series is about record company owner Jerrica Benton, her singer alter-ego Jem, and the adventures of her band Jem and The Holograms. The series was a joint collaboration by Hasbro, Sunbow Productions and Marvel Productions, the same team responsible for G.I. Joe and Transformers. The creator of the series, Christy Marx, had also been a staff writer for the aforementioned programs. The animation for most of the episodes was provided by Japanese animation studio Toei Animation with eleven episodes, including the opening sequence provided by South Korean studio AKOM.

On television, he started as Augustus Hill in the HBO series Oz (1997–2003), Michael Dawson in the ABC television series Lost (2004–2010), and Sheriff Boyd Stevens in the MGM+ television series From (2022–present).

In 2015 Newark appeared in the live-action feature film adaptation on Jem and the Holograms directed by Jon M. Chu.

Truth or Dare, also known as Blumhouse's Truth or Dare, is a 2018 American supernatural horror film directed and co-written by Jeff Wadlow. The film stars Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Hayden Szeto, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Landon Liboiron as a group of college students who play a game of truth or dare while on vacation in Mexico, only to realize it has deadly consequences if they do not follow through on their obligations. Jason Blum produced through his Blumhouse Productions banner, and Universal Pictures distributed the film.
