Maxie's World is an American animated children's television program produced by DIC Animation City. Distributed by Claster Television and Saban International and originally aired in first-run syndication in the United States from September 18, 1989 through October 30, 1989. It consists of one season, comprising a total of 32 episodes, each 15 minutes long. In the series' original run, Maxie's World alternated on weekdays with Beverly Hills Teens and It's Punky Brewster. The series was briefly rerun on USA Network in 1994.

Samantha Newark is an English musician and actress. She is best known for her voice-over work as the speaking voice of Jem and Jerrica in the animated cartoon series Jem. As a teenager, Newark became a voice-over talent in mainstream television. Her work on "Jem" produced a serious cult following that persists to this day. She lent her voice to many radio and TV projects while writing and performing her original music as a solo recording artist in Los Angeles CA, Nashville TN and Dallas, Texas. In 2015 Newark appeared in the live-action feature film adaptation on Jem and the Holograms directed by Jon M. Chu.

Very loosely based on Christy Marx's 1980s animated television series Jem, the film was produced by Allspark Pictures and Blumhouse Productions.

The show was picked up to series on September 29, 2014, and premiered on June 2, 2015, on ABC Family. In an October 2016 Facebook Live chat, it was announced that the series was renewed for a third season, which aired from June 5 to August 14, 2017. On September 15, 2017, Freeform canceled the series after three seasons.

Patricia Alice Albrecht was an American actress, writer and poet. She was best known for her role of Phyllis "Pizzazz" Gabor, the antagonistic lead singer of the fictional band The Misfits in the animated television series Jem from 1985 to 1988. Her other voiceover work included the animated series The New Yogi Bear Show, The Snorks, and New Kids on the Block.
