Australia TradeCoast is an economic development area of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia.
Brisbane is the capital of and the most populated city in the Australian state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of 2.5 million, and the South East Queensland region, centred on Brisbane, encompasses a population of more than 3.5 million. The Brisbane central business district stands on the historic European settlement and is situated inside a peninsula of the Brisbane River, about 15 kilometres from its mouth at Moreton Bay. The metropolitan area extends in all directions along the floodplain of the Brisbane River Valley between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range, sprawling across several of Australia's most populous local government areas (LGAs)—most centrally the City of Brisbane, which is by far the most populous LGA in the nation. The demonym of Brisbane is "Brisbanite".
Queensland is the second-largest and third-most populous state in the Commonwealth of Australia. Situated in the north-east of the country, it is bordered by the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales to the west, south-west and south respectively. To the east, Queensland is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. To its north is the Torres Strait, with Papua New Guinea located less than 200 km across it from the mainland. The state is the world's sixth-largest sub-national entity, with an area of 1,852,642 square kilometres (715,309 sq mi).

The concept of branding and promoting the empty space around Brisbane's port and airport, following many years of Government reports and soul-searching on what might be done with the "Brisbane Gateway Ports Area", was first proposed to then Queensland Premier Peter Beattie by a 3PR marketing consultant who had developed Amsterdam Airport Area for Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
Peter Douglas Beattie is a former Australian politician who served as the 36th Premier of Queensland, in office from 1998 to 2007. He was the state leader of the Labor from 1996 to 2007.
Beattie took up the idea with enthusiasm, so a partnership was formed between the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, Brisbane Airport and the Port of Brisbane to drive the project forward. The brand and organisational details were announced at a press conference at Brisbane Airport in May 1999.
The Government of Queensland, also referred to as the Queensland Government, is the Australian state democratic administrative authority of Queensland. The Government of Queensland, a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, was formed in 1859 as prescribed in its Constitution, as amended from time to time. Since the Federation of Australia in 1901, Queensland has been a state of the Commonwealth of Australia, and the Constitution of Australia regulates its relationship with the Commonwealth. Under the Australian Constitution, Queensland ceded legislative and judicial supremacy to the Commonwealth, but retained powers in all matters not in conflict with the Commonwealth. Brisbane Airport is the primary international airport serving Brisbane and South East Queensland. The airport services 31 airlines flying to 50 domestic and 29 international destinations, in total amounting in more than 22.7 million passengers who travelled through the airport in 2016. In 2016, an OAG report named Brisbane airport as the fifth-best performing large-sized airport in the world for on-time performance with 86.71% of arrivals and departures occurring within 15 minutes of their scheduled times, slipping from 88.31% the year before.
Port of Brisbane is the shipping port and suburb of Brisbane, on the east coast of Queensland, Australia. It is located in the lower reaches of the Brisbane River on Fisherman Island, an artificial island reclaimed from the smaller Fisherman Islands group at the mouth of the river. It currently is the third busiest port in Australia and the nation's fastest growing container port. It includes the main shipping channel across Moreton Bay which extends 90 kilometres (56 mi) north to Mooloolaba and is dredged to maintain a depth fourteen metres at the lowest tide.
Australia TradeCoast is expected to release and develop 1,300 hectares (3,200 acres) of land by 2026. In 2014 there were 32 industry precincts. Brisbane Airport Corporation has nine commercial precincts for activities including freight warehousing and distribution centres. The Port of Brisbane has 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) of quayline, 1,047 hectares (2,590 acres) of land holdings and 999 hectares (2,470 acres) of wet land. TradeCoast Central Precinct has 120 hectares (300 acres) of master planned industrial community and corporate office park. Business activities within the Australia TradeCoast region include around 1,500 businesses with over 60,000 employees. The region is forecast to employ more than 110,000 people by 2026. [1]
