Bachata #1's is a compilation album released by Machete Music on July 3, 2007. The album features several artists from the bachata genre, such as Xtreme, Aventura, Monchy & Alexandra, Alex Bueno, Frank Reyes, and Los Toros Band with production being handled by Anthony Santos, Lenny Santos, Sergio George and Franklin Romero among others. Musically, the album features musical arrangements combining bachata and R&B.
Upon release, the album peaked at number 139 on the Billboard 200, number six on the Billboard Latin Albums chart, and number one on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart. It became the seventh and second best-selling Tropical Album of 2007 and 2008 respectively. Several songs from the album were released as singles from their respective parent albums including Xtreme's "Shorty, Shorty" and "Un Beso" by Aventura. The second installment of the Bachata #1's series was released in 2008.
The Bachata #1's series is a collection of compilations of various artists centered on the genre of bachata. [1] [2] Dominican duo Xtreme's "Shorty, Shorty" was released as the lead single from their second studio album, Haciendo Historia (2006). [3] It debuted at number two on the Billboard Latin Songs chart, [4] for the issue dated March 9, 2007. [5] The song also managed to top the Billboard Tropical Songs chart. [6] Musically, the song leans more toward Contemporary R&B. [7] "Un Beso", written by Anthony "Romeo" Santos and performed by Aventura, was released as the fourth and final single from the group's fourth studio album, God's Project (2005). The song peaked at number six and two on the Billboard Latin Songs and Billboard Tropical Songs charts respectively. [8] The bachata and R&B number, [9] has been named one of their biggest hits along with "Los Infieles", "El Perdedor", and "Mi Corazoncito" among others. According to an editor for Allmusic, the 12-track collection contains material by artist performing in the Dominican-influenced genre of bachata, noting featured artist such as Aventura, Monchy & Alexandra, and Xtreme. He complimented "Aventura's light, lilting "Obsesion" and Xtreme's R&B-tinged "Te Extrano", naming them two highlights of the compilation. Musically, he noted the album's softer percussion and romanticism of its lyrics, which "are perfect for quieter moments on the dance floor." [29]
Upon release, the album debuted at number 191 on the Billboard 200 for the week dated September 8, 2007. [30] A week later, it fell off the chart and re-entered at number 171 for the week of September 22, 2007. [31] It remained at that position the next week and in its fifth week fell to number 188. [32] On the week dated October 20, 2007, the album rose 30 positions to number 158, [33] only to again fall to number 170 the next issue. [34] The following week, it rose 28 positions to number 142. [35] In its ninth week, it rose another three positions to its peak position of number 139 for the week of November 10, 2007. [36] It managed another week at number 161 and ended its reign on the chart at number 178, a week later. In August 2008, the album charted simultaneously on the latter, with the second installment in the Bachata #1's series, which had debuted atop of the chart. Aventura is an American bachata group formed in The Bronx, New York. With the lineup always consisting of the members Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, and Max Santos, they are regarded as one of the most influential Latin groups of all time. All of the members are of Dominican descent, although Romeo is also half Puerto Rican on his mother's side. They were the first major bachata act to have originated in the United States instead of the Dominican Republic. The group was integral to the evolution of bachata music and are the pioneers of the modern bachata sound.
Monchy & Alexandra were a bachata musical group from the Dominican Republic. They sang together as a duo beginning in 1998. Their first big hit was "Hoja en Blanco (song)", which they released in 1999. Since then, they had many other hits, such as "Hasta El Fin" and "Perdidos", both from their 2004 album Hasta el Fin, as well as "No Es Una Novela" from their 2006 Éxitos y Más album. They have been often credited with being instrumental in popularizing bachata music outside of the Dominican Republic.
Sentimiento is the sixth studio album by Puerto Rican recording artist Ivy Queen. It was released on March 27, 2007, by Univision Records. The album features production collaborations with several Puerto Rican music producers including Monserrate & DJ Urba, Noriega, and Luny Tunes. It also features vocal collaborations with Don Omar, Arcángel, Tito "El Bambino", Ken-Y, Randy and Naldo. The album includes solo performances by Baby Rasta, Divino, Mikey Perfecto, Naldo and Noriega. Musically, the album alternates between reggaetón, bolero, and salsa. The move in musical composition from reggaetón and hip hop is credited to Queen's evolution as a musical artist.
Flashback is the fifth studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen, released on October 4, 2005 through Univision and on September 15, 2007 as Greatest Hits in Germany and Spain. It is often considered as a studio-compilation release due to the amount of the album being previously released material. Queen began working on Flashback after the moderate success of Real in early 2005. Featuring content dating back to 1995, when she was still a part of the all-male group The Noise, the album includes four new pieces of work all produced by Rafi Mercenario, the genre's most requested record producer at the time.
Todo a Su Tiempo is the second studio album by American recording artist Marc Anthony, released by RMM Records on May 31, 1995. The album was produced by Sergio George, who was also involved with production of Anthony's debut studio album, Otra Nota. The album comprises five new compositions, three of which were written by Omar Alfanno, and four cover versions. Eight singles were released from the album, all but one of which topped the Billboard Tropical Songs chart.
We Broke the Rules is the second studio album by the American band Aventura, released on July 2, 2002, by Premium Latin music. On the album, Aventura incorporated elements of pop, hip hop, and R&B into bachata, giving what critics thought was a new flavor to the genre and extending its appeal to those who preferred urban music styles. The album introduces to the mainstream a new style of bachata known as "the New York school", or "urban bachata", characterized by the inclusion of electric guitars instead of acoustic, and lyrics in Spanish and English instead of just Spanish. In addition, the singing style takes after R&B melodies. The album's themes mainly included heartbreak and melancholy, although it also included social themes like in "Amor de Madre", or "Mother's Love", which is a song describing the lifelong struggle of a prostitute and her son.
Hasta el Fin is Monchy & Alexandra's third studio released album under the Sony International Label, which was released on October 19, 2004.
Toby Love is the debut studio album by Puerto Rican-American performer Toby Love. It was released on September 5, 2006 by Sony BMG Norte. The album featured collaborations with Puerto Rican rapper Voltio and Puerto Rican duo R.K.M & Ken-Y, among others. Upon release, the album debuted at number twenty-seven on the Billboard Latin Albums chart, number forty-two on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, number three on the Mid-Atlantic area division of the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and number eleven on Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums chart. "El Amor" is a song by Puerto Rican singer Tito El Bambino. It was composed by Tito and Joan Ortiz and released on February 9, 2009, as the second single from his third studio album, El Patrón (2009). The song blends the sounds of Latin pop with cumbia and merengue. A regional Mexican and a salsa version were recorded and included on the special edition of the album.

Since then, Santos has embarked on a solo career which has created seven number one songs on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart and seventeen number ones on the Tropical Airplay chart. He has sold over 24 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling Latin artists of all time.
"Por Amarte Así" is a song written by Alejandro Montalbán and Eduardo Reyes and performed by Mexican recording artist Cristian Castro. Lyrically, the song is about a man who promises to keep loving his lover even though she is gone. In the United States, it peaked at number three and two on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts and received a Billboard Latin Music nomination for Pop Track of the Year. "Por Amarte Así" was the fifth best-performing Latin single of 2001 in the United States.
Fórmula, Vol. 1 is the debut studio album by American singer Romeo Santos, released on November 8, 2011, by Sony Music Latin. It is Santos's first album as a solo artist following the break-up of American bachata group Aventura, of which he was the lead singer. The record contains fifteen tracks, most of which were composed by Santos and co-produced with Ivan Chevere. The album experiments with the sound of bachata and other genres including R&B and flamenco. It features several Anglophone and Hispanophone guest artists including Usher, Tomatito, Mario Domm, and Lil Wayne. Recording for the album took place in 2011 at The Castle, Fight Klub, and EMG Studios in New York City. A deluxe edition of the album containing five extra tracks was released exclusively in Walmart retail stores in the United States.

A remix version with R.K.M & Ken-Y was also recorded and included on the album. After separating from the bachata group Aventura in 2006, Toby Love set out on his own to record his debut album. "Pobre Corazón" (English: Poor Heart) is a song recorded by Divino for Ivy Queen's sixth studio album, Sentimiento (2007). It was composed by Divino along with Queen and produced by Marcos Sánchez. A remix version with Queen was also recorded and included on the platinum edition of the album. Separate salsa and bachata versions were also later recorded. Ivy Queen and Divino performed the remix of the song as a part of the setlist of her 2008 World Tour which was held from the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum known as the Coliseum of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The song was written by Sergio George and Fernando Osorio, produced by George and released as the lead single from Cruz's final studio album Regalo del Alma (2003) on 12 July 2003.
