The Free Aceh Movement was a separatist group seeking independence for the Aceh region of Sumatra, Indonesia. GAM fought against Indonesian government forces in the Aceh insurgency from 1976 to 2005, during which over 15,000 lives are believed to have been lost.

Matsyendranātha, also known as Matsyendra, Macchindranāth, Mīnanātha and Minapa was a saint and yogi in a number of Buddhist and Hindu traditions. He is traditionally considered the revivalist of hatha yoga as well as the author of some of its earliest texts. He is also seen as the founder of the natha sampradaya, having received the teachings from Shiva. He is especially associated with Kaula Shaivism. He is also one of the eighty-four mahasiddhas and considered the guru of Gorakshanath, another important figure in early hatha yoga. He is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists and is sometimes regarded as an incarnation of Avalokiteśvara.

The aftermath of a strong military offensive in 2003 and the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake brought a peace agreement and an end to the insurgency.

Imadol (इमाडोल) is a village and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Mahalaxmi Municipality in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. It lies to the southeastern quarter of Patan, to the southeast of Kathmandu. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 27,327 living in 6,898 individual households. Until 2015, Imadol was a Village Development Committee. Imadol borders Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (Patan) to the northwest, Greater Kathmandu to the north, Madhyapur Thimi to the northeast, Tikathali to the east, Sidhdipur to the southeast, Harisiddhi to the south and Dhapakhel to the southwest. Historians have documented that Imadol was visited by Emperor Ashoka in ancient times and his influence can be seen in the Ashoka stupas in the area.
Patan is a town in Sumerpur block of Unnao District in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located 16km south of Purwa on the main Unnao-Allahabad road, and a short distance to the south of the Loni river. Part of the historical region of Baiswara, it historically gave its name to a pargana which existed since at least the time of Akbar, and under the Nawabs of Awadh it was the seat of a tehsil. A huge fair called the Takia-ka-Mela is held in Patan on the first Thursday in Paus, in honour of the saint Niamat Shah, revered by both Hindus and Muslims, drawing tens of thousands of visitors. A second fair, established by Muhabbat Shah's disciple Shafqat Shah, is also held in Muhabbat Shah's honour at the tomb on the first Thursday of Jeth.
