Ballinamere GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Ballykilmurry, County Offaly, Ireland. The club, having previously fielded teams in both codes, is now primarily concerned with the game of hurling.
Today, facilities include two pitches, a gym, and a fully-lit walking track. [1] The club's main sponsor is Molloy Precast & Environmental Systems. [2]
Located in the townland of Ballykilmurry just outside Tullamore, Ballinamere GAA Club was founded in the 1880s. Hurling was the favoured sport in the early years, with the club reaching the 1908 Offaly SHC final only to be beaten by Drumcullen. [3] The Parish Rule, War of Independence and Civil War lead to a period of inactivity before the club underwent a revival in 1930. [4]
The 1940s and 1950s saw the club have its most successful period, with Ballinamere claiming three Offaly JHC titles and two Offaly IHC titles. The club added another JHC titles to its list of honours in 1980, before winning the Offaly JFC title in 1983. [5] It was around this time that Ballinamere and the nearby Durrow joined forces at underage level. This resulted in an amalgamation at adult level in 2006, with Ballinamere focusing on hurling and Durrow concentrating on football. Ballinamere claimed provincial honours in 2013 when a 2-08 to 0-13 defeat of Lisdowney secured the Leinster Club JHC title. [6]
The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship.

The Laois Junior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by lower-tier Laois GAA clubs. Ballypickas are the 2021 champions, defeating near-neighbours Abbeyleix in the final. As of then, they and Camross have won the most (8).
The Offaly Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Offaly GAA clubs. The Offaly County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1929.
The Joe McDonagh Cup is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The cup forms the second-tier of Hurling for senior county teams. It is contested by the six county teams ranked 12–17 in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Each year, the champions of the Joe McDonagh Cup are promoted to their provincial championship, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Christy Ring Cup. The cup is named in honour of Joe McDonagh, the former president of the GAA who died in 2016. The last of the five tiers to be established, the competition was contested for the first time in 2018.
The 2018 Leinster Senior Hurling Championship is the 2018 installment of the annual Leinster Senior Hurling Championship organised by Leinster GAA.
The 2020 Joe McDonagh Cup was the third staging of the Joe McDonagh Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2018. The competition was initially scheduled to begin on 10 May 2020 and end on 29 June 2020. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, the first-round games were delayed until 25 October 2020.
The Offaly county hurling team represents Offaly in hurling and is governed by Offaly GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team plays in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, part of the top tier of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. At senior level, the county have won four All-Ireland championships, nine Leinster championships and one National Hurling League title.
The Antrim county hurling team represents Antrim GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association, in the Gaelic sport of hurling. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League.
