Dr. Bani Yadav (born 7 September 1971) is an Indian rally driver, motorsports promoter and social rights supporter. Yadav was the only woman in India to win most of the major Cross Country Rally Titles in the national women's category. [1]

Early life and career

She was born in Lucknow and later brought up in Delhi. She had her very first experience on the wheels at age 13, which made her want a career in racing. At the age of 43, she finally started off with her racing career for the first time in Jaipur Speed Sprint in 2013 and ended at 2nd position in the event.

In 2013, Yadav began Motorsport racing. In 2015, she was declared the fastest woman driver in IRC Asia Pacific cup in the year 2015. Yadav participates in women empowerment events and endorses equal rights and gender equality.

Bani was the National Autocross Champion-Woman in 2018 and 2019. [2] She is the first woman from India to officially drive formula 4 cars outside of India at Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit. She is the only woman in India to have been awarded a doctorate in Motorsports.

The toughest time of her life was when she got spine injury in October 2013. She went through two back surgeries. Minor surgery was in October 2013, and then major one was in December 2013. It took her 6 months to get back to her feet. As soon as she recovered she got back on the track.

Personal life

She is married to her school friend Suresh and has two sons, who have also grown up to be speed-racers. [3]

Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) is a rallying Natioinal Championship in different classes with a series of rounds, organised under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), which is the Governing Body or ASN of India recognised by FIA culminating with National Champion Driver and Co-Driver. The driver and co-drivers's championship are based on a point system. The championship first received its National Championship Title status in 1988. Aroor Arjun Rao of Mangaluru is the reigning National champion. Supported by MRF Tyres, he drives for Mandovi Racing team in a Maruti Baleno. The 2024 National Championship begins in Chennai from 15 March 2024 with the South India Rally (SIR) which is also a round of the APRC Asia Cup.

Nazir Hoosein was an Indian racing driver and motorsport administrator. He was the President of the Motorsports Association of India, Vice President of the FIA for Sport, chief steward of the World Rally Championship and a member of the World Motor Sport Council.

The JK Tyre National Racing Championship also known as JK-NRC is an auto racing championship series consisting of several one-make series events of open wheel single seater formula cars and saloon cars in India. This championship series is also considered to be the stepping stone for Indian Racing drivers who want to break into international motorsports. Several drivers have gone on to take part in international events including Formula One and A1 Grand Prix and other premier racing series around the world.

<i>Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya</i> Indian Television series

Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya is an Indian television series which aired on STAR Plus. The series premiered on 7 December 2009 and was ended on 27 October 2012. It starred Pooja Gor and Arhaan Behll. All episodes of the series re-telecasted at Star Bharat from October 2020 to March 2021. A new season of the series Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2 premiered on 15 March 2021 on Star Bharat produced by Director's Kut Productions.

Deepa Malik is an Indian athlete. She started her career at the age of 30. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games and won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in shot put. She also won gold in the F-53/54 Javelin event at the para athletic Grand Prix held in Dubai in 2018. She is currently the world number one in the F-53 category. She has won accolades for her participation in various adventure sports. She is associated with Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.) and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.). She has undertaken an 8-day, 1,700-km drive in sub-zero temperatures which included a climb to 18,000 feet (5,500 m). It was – Raid De Himalaya. She is the first Indian woman to win 7 FMSCI National titles, including 6 consecutive Indian National Rally Championship in two-wheelers from 2017. She started with Circuit Racing winning Honda one-make and TVS one-make titles and went on to win multiple Indian National Rally Championship titles before moving to bigger cross-country rallies.

Vicky Bharat Chandhok is an Indian racing driver and motorsport administrator. He served as the president of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) from 2003 to 2005, and from 2010 to 2013,

Amanpreet Ahluwalia is an Indian racing driver and a national Go-Karting champion and national Autocross Champion. He was the National Champion two years running in the National Karting Championship in 2002–03.

Arjun Balu is an Indian motorsports driver. After starting as a road racing driver in 1992, he took part in the Indian National Rally Championship for 17 years. He won 11 Championships, all in road racing and is currently racing in the Indian Touring Car (ITC) class in the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship 2023. He is the reigning National champion in the ITC class (2022).
