Bruce Wolfe's statue of Barbara Jordan on the University of Texas at Austin campus was erected in 2009. [1]

Bruce Wolfe, is a sculptor, artist, illustrator, and designer, known for producing sculptures of and for many notable figures. The San Francisco Chronicle described him as "the top sculptor for hire in the Bay Area, and maybe the nation". Within his forty-year career he created sculptures and busts of Barbara Jordan, Margaret Thatcher, former mayor Ilus W. Davis of Kansas City, former Secretary of State George Shultz, Norman Shumway, and former Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

Barbara Jordan American politician

Barbara Charline Jordan was an American lawyer, educator and politician who was a leader of the Civil Rights Movement. A Democrat, she was the first African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction and the first Southern African-American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives. She was best known for her eloquent opening statement at the House Judiciary Committee hearings during the impeachment process against Richard Nixon, and as the first African-American as well as the first woman to deliver a keynote address at a Democratic National Convention. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, among numerous other honors. She was a member of the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors from 1978 to 1980. She was the first African-American woman to be buried in the Texas State Cemetery.

Mirador de la Flor

Mirador de la Flor also known as Selena's seawall is a monument in Corpus Christi, Texas that was unveiled in 1997 to honor Selena, the Tejano singer who was murdered by her assistant and head of her fan club Yolanda Saldívar, two years earlier at the age of 23. People from around the world visit the site, which is located only a few miles north of Seaside Memorial Park where Selena is buried. It is located at the corner of Peoples Street T-Head and Shoreline Boulevard and consists of a 5'8" life-sized bronze statue of Selena wearing a leather jacket with microphone in hand, sculpted by H.W. "Buddy" Tatum, a Corpus Christi artist. She is leaning against a concrete pillar looking towards the Corpus Christi Bay. About 30,000 people visit this monument every year.

Barbara Jordan Career Center, formerly Barbara Jordan High School for Careers, is a public vocational school center at 5800 Eastex Freeway in Houston, Texas, United States. It is a part of the Houston Independent School District. Prior to July 1, 2018 the school served as its own self-contained secondary school. Since June 2018, Jordan is a regional career education hub for students enrolled at other HISD high schools. When it was its own high school it had a program for high school-aged deaf pupils.

The Michael Jordan statue, also known as The Spirit, is a bronze sculpture by Omri Amrany and Julie Rotblatt-Amrany that has been located inside the United Center in the Near West Side community area of Chicago since March 1, 2017. The sculpture was originally commissioned after Jordan's initial retirement following three consecutive NBA championships and unveiled prior to the Bulls taking residence in their new home stadium the following year. Depicting Basketball Hall of Fame member Michael Jordan and unveiled outside the United Center on November 1, 1994, the 12-foot (3.7 m) sculpture stands atop a 5-foot (1.52 m) black granite base. The memorial was sculpted by Ed Dwight and erected by the Texas African American History Memorial Foundation in 2016. It describes African American history from the 1500s to present, and includes depictions of Hendrick Arnold and Barbara Jordan, as well as Juneteenth, when African Americans were emancipated.

The Statue of Liberty Replica Monument is an outdoor replica of the Statue of Liberty, installed on the Texas State Capitol grounds in Austin, Texas, United States. The bronze replica was cast by the Friedley-Voshardt Company and erected by the Boy Scouts of America in 1951. It stands on a Texas limestone base and was originally installed southwest of the Capitol, along with a time capsule. The capsule was buried at the scout camp near Bastrop in 2008, and is scheduled to be re-opened in 2076.
